Elden Ring patch 1.13, published on 29 July 2024, changed several sorceries, incantations and spirit ashes, alongside PvP balance, weapons and a handful of menu and map issues. It included buffs and nerfs: notably, Impenetrable Thorns gained enemy tracking while losing attack power, poise damage, Hemorrhage buildup and stamina damage against guarding enemies. The update is historical, not the latest patch in the cited sequence; Bandai Namco published version 1.14 notes on 10 September 2024.
Which platforms received patch 1.13?
Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe published the English patch notes on 29 July 2024. The update targeted PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The title screen should display App Ver. 1.13 and Regulation Ver. 1.13.1. On consoles, the regulation file can be downloaded by logging in; online play requires applying the update. Which sorceries were buffed or nerfed?
The notes describe directional changes, not quantified damage percentages. They do not provide before-and-after values, so the table reports only the stated changes and does not rank spells.

The clearest mixed change is Impenetrable Thorns: Bandai Namco says, “All generated Impenetrable Thorns will now track enemies,” but also lists reductions to several other effects. The patch notes give no numerical magnitudes for these changes.

What changed for incantations?
Incantation adjustments covered healing, attack speed, tracking, damage and hit behavior. Named changes in the official notes include:
- Minor Erdtree: HP recovery increased.
- Land of Shadow and Watchful Spirit: enemy tracking improved.
- Spira: attack speed increased.
- Divine Beast Tornado: attack power increased; enemies hit are launched upward, and the tornado is less likely to disappear when it collides with terrain.
- Rain of Fire: attack power increased and the interval between hits shortened.
- Roar of Rugalea, Furious Blade of Ansbach and Rotten Butterflies: received listed improvements affecting attack power, poise damage, status buildup, tick interval or range.
The patch therefore changed more than raw damage: tracking, hit effects and the timing or reach of attacks also mattered. The notes do not give numerical before-and-after figures for these adjustments.

How did patch 1.13 affect spirit ashes?
Many individual spirit ashes were adjusted, often to make them harder to stagger. Some also gained HP, attack power, status buildup or damage negation. These individual changes are separate from a general adjustment to summoned spirits:
- Summoned spirits other than Mimic Tear gained attack power and damage negation when the Revered Spirit Ash Blessing was at level 5 or higher.
- The summoned spirit also had to be upgraded to +8 or higher for those general changes to apply.
Those thresholds describe the general summoned-spirit adjustment; they should not be assumed to apply to every individual ash change.

What else changed beyond spells?
PvP balance
The notes separate PvP balance from general adjustments. For example, in the PvP section, Knight’s Lightning Spear gained attack power on its initial lightning spear, while later spears lost attack power and all generated spears lost poise damage. Miriam’s Vanishing received a shorter invulnerability window against other players’ attacks. These are specifically player-versus-player changes, not a blanket description of the spell’s behavior in all play.
Skills and weapons
In the general balance section, Savage Lion’s Claw gained attack power and poise damage on its first attack. Swift Slash had reduced travel distance and longer recovery. The patch also lists armament-scaling and weapon-specific adjustments, so its balance scope was broader than magic.

What did the UI and map fixes actually change?
The “UI” changes were targeted fixes, not a broad interface redesign. Patch 1.13:
- Changed the default selection in the confirmation prompt for using the Spectral Steed Whistle when Torrent is dead to OK.
- Corrected how the Warpick’s physical attack attribute is displayed in the Attribute Menu.
- Fixed Realm of Shadow NPC icons in the map menu and an issue involving the map and Map Fragment icon.
- Changed some NPC summon signs so they can be activated with one press of the action button.
Is patch 1.13 still the latest update?
No. Bandai Namco published version 1.14 notes on 10 September 2024, documenting later balance adjustments and fixes. Version 1.13 is best treated as a dated update rather than the current version. See the official version 1.14 notes.
