Red Dead Redemption’s 1914 epilogue ends with Jack Marston killing Edgar Ross, and the story never shows what he does afterward. Claims that he became a writer, joined the military, married, or died at a particular age circulate among fans, but none of them is established in the game or in official material.
How Jack’s story ends in the 1914 epilogue
Red Dead Redemption follows John Marston, a former outlaw whom federal agents force to hunt down his former gang when his family is threatened. In the closing stretch, John returns to Beecher’s Hope and tries to build an honest life with his wife Abigail and their son Jack. E. Wright’s 2019 University of Warwick thesis, Rockstar Games and American History, describes federal agents killing John while Abigail and Jack escape.

The game then jumps three years ahead to 1914 and gives players control of a grown-up Jack. The epilogue’s Jack-specific missions lead to one goal: revenge on Edgar Ross, the man who killed his father. Jack confronts and kills him, and the story ends there.
The final Jack mission
The last story mission unique to Jack is “Remember My Family.” Wright identifies it as the final Jack-specific mission and describes it as Jack’s revenge on Ross. It is the last point at which the game follows Jack in a scripted story sequence.

Some fan summaries say Abigail dies in the epilogue before Jack’s confrontation with Ross. The fan-maintained Red Dead Wiki: Jack Marston reports this, but the wiki is not an official source, so treat the exact chronology and details of that event with care.
What the game leaves unanswered
After Ross dies, the story stops. Nothing in the released game establishes:

Those answers are fan theories. Because they are not in the game or in Rockstar’s official material, they should be presented as speculation rather than as Jack’s canon fate.

To verify the epilogue, play the game or watch its story on the official page. Rockstar’s official game page is at rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption. Rockstar’s store description states: “When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is forced to hunt down the gang of criminals he once called friends.” The current Buy Red Dead Redemption listing says the game includes the single-player experience of Undead Nightmare on the listed edition. Platform and regional availability can change, so confirm them on the live listing before buying.
