Defeating Hel at the end of The Forgotten Saga rewards you with a unique gear set you can use in England. Runs also earn currencies for upgrades and purchases, but those repeat-run rewards are separate from the gear set awarded for beating Hel.
The main reward for defeating Hel
Ubisoft identifies the unique gear set as the ultimate-completion reward: defeat Hel’s forces and the goddess herself, and the set is awarded for use while exploring England. It is the mode’s named reward for completing its final challenge, not a bundle of every item available from the mode’s merchants.
Other rewards you can earn through play
Persistent currencies and upgrades
Runs earn currency that can fund Odin’s upgrades, perks, and abilities. Ubisoft’s support information distinguishes five currencies: Coins, Dreams, Gems, Memories, and Thoughts. Dreams, Memories, and Thoughts are kept when you quit a run. Coins and Gems are spent with merchants during runs and are lost if you die or quit.
Ravensthorpe cosmetics
Currency earned through play can also be used in Ravensthorpe to buy tattoos, mounts, and raven skins. These are separate purchases, not automatic rewards for defeating Hel; earning currency and spending it on a cosmetic are distinct steps.

Gear found during a run
Weapons, outfits, and runes found or bought during an attempt help Odin survive and progress in that run. They are not the same as the unique England gear set: Ubisoft says powerful run gear is stripped when Hel’s forces defeat Odin.
What completing a run involves
The challenge is to make it through all four regions in a single run. If Odin dies, he returns to the start, while permanent upgrades can strengthen later attempts. Ubisoft says you can quit a run at any time; the currencies you retain or lose on quitting are described above.

How to unlock The Forgotten Saga
The mode is free and included in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla; you do not need to buy a separate Forgotten Saga DLC. Ubisoft Help lists these current prerequisites for starting the “A Gift from the Otherworld” quest:
- Reach settlement level 3.
- Build the Seer’s Hut.
- Access the Asgard and Jotunheim storylines.
The quest starts automatically once those conditions are met. Ubisoft’s older Title Update 1.6.0 notes describe the launch access route more generally; the current Help prerequisites are the more specific guidance.
