What the setting changes
In a Steam community discussion dated October 7, 2014, Project Zomboid developer lemmy101 explained that a bite is “not required for you to turn.” The developer later summarized the rule: “You die from a bite, but will turn however you die.” In other words, under this option, reanimation is not conditional on being bitten.

Does it make bites harmless?
No. Lemmy101 said a bite can still kill the character after a couple of days. “Everyone’s Infected” changes whether a bite is required for turning after death; it does not remove bite consequences.

Transmission and Infection Mortality are separate settings
The official English sandbox settings text describes Transmission as controlling “how the zombie virus spreads.” It describes Infection Mortality as controlling “how quickly the infection takes effect.” These are separate controls, so selecting “Everyone’s Infected” does not itself set infection mortality to Never.

How to think about the option
- Everyone’s Infected: a character can turn after death even if no bite caused the death.
- Bite consequences: a bite can still be fatal, according to the developer’s explanation.
- Infection Mortality: adjust this separate option to control when infection takes effect, including the listed Never choice.
