eDPI, or effective DPI, combines your mouse’s DPI setting with your game’s sensitivity in one number: eDPI = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity. For example, 800 DPI × 0.27 sensitivity = 216 eDPI. Use the DPI value currently selected on your mouse and the sensitivity value used by the game.
How to calculate your eDPI
- Find your mouse DPI. Check the mouse’s software or onboard settings for the DPI value currently selected. If the mouse has fixed DPI, check its manufacturer documentation. CORSAIR explains these options in its eDPI calculator guide.
- Find your in-game sensitivity. Use the value in the game’s mouse settings. In VALORANT, Setup.gg identifies it as Sensitivity: Aim under Settings > General > Mouse in its VALORANT eDPI guide, updated September 8, 2026.
- Multiply the values. Keep the full sensitivity value rather than rounding it first; rounding can change the result, especially at high DPI, according to Setup.gg.
Calculation examples
- 800 DPI × 0.27 sensitivity = 216 eDPI, a worked example from CORSAIR.
- If sensitivity is given as a percentage, convert it to a decimal first: 10% = 0.1, so 800 DPI × 0.1 = 80 eDPI (CORSAIR).
- For VALORANT, 400 DPI × 0.500, 800 DPI × 0.250, and 1600 DPI × 0.125 each equal 200 eDPI (Setup.gg).
What eDPI tells you—and what it leaves out
eDPI is useful for comparing mouse settings within the same game. If two players use different mouse DPI values but adjust in-game sensitivity so the products match, their eDPI is the same. The number summarizes those two inputs; it does not include every factor affecting how aiming feels.

In VALORANT, the basic calculation does not account for ADS or scoped multipliers, mouse acceleration, or available mousepad space, according to Setup.gg. It is also not a universal recommendation: the calculation tells you what your settings produce, not which sensitivity is best for you.

Can you compare eDPI between games?
Not reliably. Games use different sensitivity scales, so the same eDPI number does not necessarily produce the same physical mouse movement in different games. For a cross-game match, use a game-specific sensitivity converter or compare cm/360—the mouse distance needed to turn 360 degrees.
