The official patch notes reviewed name specific moves whose poise damage changed, but do not publish a complete numerical ranking across weapons, skills, spells, PvE and PvP. The only numeric comparison identified is an explicitly incomplete PvE community test from patch 1.03.2—not a current leaderboard.
Why there is no definitive highest-stance-damage move
Stance damage depends on the move being used, the game version, the target and whether you are playing PvE or PvP. Official patch notes document individual balance changes rather than give comparable values for every move. They therefore cannot establish which move deals the most stance damage overall.

That distinction matters because a move adjusted in a patch may no longer compare the same way with other moves, and PvP adjustments are not evidence of a PvE ranking. A claim that one move is the universal winner would need a comprehensive, current test under consistent conditions; the available sources do not provide one.
What the official patch notes establish
Bandai Namco’s version 1.14 patch notes report poise-damage increases for named moves. Dynastic Sickleplay’s follow-up heavy attacks received increased poise damage. Moon-and-Fire Stance’s normal attack received increased range, poise damage and attack speed, while its heavy attack also received increased poise damage. These are documented changes, not declarations that either skill ranks highest.

The version 1.13 patch notes show why version matters: they say the poise damage of all spears generated by Knight’s Lightning Spear was decreased, while the first attack of Savage Lion’s Claw received increased attack power and poise damage. Neither set of notes gives numeric values or compares those moves against the full game.
Version 1.14 also separates “PvP-exclusive balance adjustments” from general adjustments. A PvP change should not be used to support a PvE ranking, and a PvE test should not be presented as a PvP result.

What the available numeric test can—and cannot—tell you
A Reddit post titled “An incomplete list of Weapon Skill’s Stance Damage (PVE only)” reports community testing against the Troll Giant outside Volcano Manor on patch 1.03.2. Its author labels the list incomplete. It can serve as a historical comparison from that test context, but it is neither an official reference nor a comprehensive measure of the current game, and it does not establish today’s highest-stance-damage move.
The same post reports that an enemy’s stance began regenerating rapidly after about 4–5 seconds without a hit, then generally refilled in 3–4 seconds once regeneration began. Those are the post’s observations from its patch 1.03.2 testing—not official timings or verified universal values for current versions.

How to compare moves fairly
To find a useful winner for your own situation, compare moves against the same target under the same conditions. Record enough detail that another player could reproduce the test:
- Version and content: Note the game version and whether the test includes the DLC.
- Mode: Keep PvE and PvP results separate.
- Target: Use the same enemy, since different stance thresholds can change how many hits it takes to stagger.
- Move and hits: Name the weapon skill or attack and count only hits that actually connect.
- Execution and opportunity: Record how long the move takes and whether its hits are practical to land. A move’s damage per use and its damage over a comparable time window answer different questions.
The official notes and old community test do not provide a standardized current dataset with these comparisons. Without one, a precise all-game ranking would be unsupported.
