The message alone does not prove that someone hacked your account. Innersloth has acknowledged duplicate-login pop-ups and says it made server changes to reduce how often they appear, but it has not said that every case is fixed.
What the message tells you—and what it doesn’t
The game is flagging a session as a duplicate. Innersloth has not published the detection logic or identified the cause of any particular player’s disconnect, so the alert cannot tell you on its own whether another person is using your account.

A community-maintained error reference suggests an active lobby session on the same account or a linked account may be involved, and also mentions server issues. That is a community explanation, not an official diagnosis for every occurrence. Among Us Wiki’s disconnect-message reference should be treated accordingly.
What Innersloth has said about duplicate-login pop-ups
In its October 14, 2025 v17.0.1 update post, Innersloth said it was working to solve duplicate-login issues and asked PC players experiencing them to include a player log with a helpdesk ticket. Read Innersloth’s v17.0.1 post.

On September 29, 2026, Innersloth’s v19.0.0 notes said it had made server changes “to lower the frequency” of duplicate-login pop-ups. That describes a mitigation, not a guarantee that no player will see the message again. Read the v19.0.0 notes.
In a January 2026 Steam discussion, Among Us developer Dors asked affected players to submit helpdesk tickets so the team could investigate “false flags.” The reply recognizes that players can be booted by an erroneous duplicate-login prompt; it does not establish the cause of any one player’s case. What to do if you keep getting kicked
- Update Among Us. The v19.0.0 notes include the server-side change intended to lower the frequency of these pop-ups.
- Submit a ticket to Innersloth’s helpdesk. The developer specifically asked players seeing the prompt to report it so the team can investigate. Open Innersloth Support.
- If you play on PC, attach a player log. Innersloth requested a log with the ticket from PC players experiencing the issue. Include it when available so support receives the information the team asked for.
Reports from players describe being kicked even when they believe they are using only one device. Those posts show the concern is not unusual, but they do not prove a particular cause or account compromise. Reddit player discussion.

Not necessarily. The alert says the game treated a session as a duplicate; Innersloth’s public statements identify an ongoing issue and server mitigation, not a confirmed intrusion. If you have separate evidence that your account is being accessed without permission, address that concern through the relevant account provider’s security support rather than treating this game message alone as proof.
