Konami presented the collection as a way to obtain the first Lords of Shadow story and related material in one package. Only the original game is identified as physically packaged. The table reflects Konami’s historical North American and European English descriptions. Those announcements do not establish a single worldwide code count or guarantee that a code in a used package remains redeemable.
The physical game: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
The disc is the full original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, not a trial or a download token. Konami identifies Gabriel Belmont as its protagonist and calls it the first chapter of this particular story arc. A complete disc is therefore the portion of the package that can normally be used without depending on the condition of a paper voucher.

For a pre-owned purchase, inspect the listing for the correct disc, case and region. A disc can be present even when the extra-content insert has been removed, so “complete in box” should not be assumed unless the seller specifically confirms the voucher.
Downloadable extras and what each one means
Reverie and Resurrection
These are two add-on chapters for the first Lords of Shadow. Konami lists both as part of the collection and places them behind the included voucher code(s). They are not separate discs in the package. If you are buying used, ask for a clear answer about whether both entitlements are represented by an unused code or by codes that have already been redeemed.
Mirror of Fate HD
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD is described by Konami as the next chapter, continuing the narrative through Gabriel Belmont’s descendants. The “HD” edition is the downloadable version identified in the collection listing. It is not presented as another physical disc; access is tied to the voucher material.

The Lords of Shadow 2 demo
The package includes a playable preview for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 in which Dracula is controllable. This is a demo, not the complete Lords of Shadow 2 game. A listing that advertises the collection as containing the full sequel is overstating what Konami said was included.
How the disc-and-voucher format works
Konami’s North American announcement says the original game is packaged physically while the other content is made available through an exclusive digital voucher code or codes. The European English product page likewise identifies the additional material as voucher content. Neither source specifies that every regional package used the same number, card design or redemption method.
That distinction matters because a sealed package and a used package offer different levels of certainty:
- Sealed copy: the insert should be inside, but redemption still depends on the platform, account region and whether the code remains accepted by the relevant service.
- Used copy with an unredeemed insert: the extras may be obtainable, subject to regional and service availability.
- Used copy without an insert or with a redeemed code: you should value it as the physical first game only unless the seller can document separate access to the downloads.
Konami’s historical inclusion statement does not verify the present status of any individual code. Treat code availability as copy-specific rather than as a guaranteed feature of every listing carrying the collection’s name.

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions
Konami lists two platforms: PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The core content description is the same in the publisher material, but a buyer still needs the edition that matches their console and the region of their account.

Do not assume that a PS3 disc runs on Xbox 360 or that a voucher issued for one platform can be transferred to the other. The safest purchase is a platform-matched copy whose region and code condition are stated explicitly.
Release timing and original pricing
The European English product page gives 8 November 2013 as the release date. Konami’s North American announcement is dated 5 November 2013 and says the collection was then available in North and South America. These are region-specific historical dates, not a single universal launch date.
Konami’s launch-era figures were approximately €29.95 suggested retail price in the German European announcement and $39.99 in the North American announcement. Both are historical recommended prices from 2013. They are not current used-market valuations, and the publisher material does not establish what a copy should cost today.

How much gameplay is included?
Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. promoted the collection as offering “more than 40 hours of gameplay.” That number is a publisher estimate from 2013, not an independently timed test. It also describes the package as a whole rather than promising a fixed campaign length for each individual game or add-on. Completion speed, difficulty, optional activities and time spent with the demo can all change an individual player’s total.
What to check before buying a used copy
Because the extras are code-based, condition checks are more important than the box title. Use this sequence when evaluating a listing:
- Confirm the console. Make sure the listing is specifically for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, whichever system you own.
- Confirm the disc. Ask for a photograph or written confirmation that the original Lords of Shadow disc is included and readable.
- Ask about the voucher insert. Have the seller state whether the card or paper insert is present, not merely whether the case is complete.
- Ask whether the code was redeemed. “Untested” does not mean unused. If the seller cannot verify it, treat the digital extras as uncertain.
- Match the region. Check the game’s market region and your console account region before relying on a voucher.
- Check the return policy. A return option is useful if the disc is damaged or a supposedly unused code fails.
These checks are more reliable than assuming that two listings with identical cover art contain identical entitlements.

What the collection does not include
- It does not include the full Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 campaign; the listed sequel material is a demo.
- It does not establish that the DLC is on a second physical disc; Konami describes it as voucher-delivered content.
- It does not guarantee a currently redeemable code in a used copy.
- It does not provide a current retail price, stock status or universal redemption promise.
These limits explain why the package can be an excellent story bundle when complete, yet a much smaller purchase if the voucher has already been consumed.
Who is the collection best suited to?
New players to the Lords of Shadow storyline
A complete package gives newcomers the original game, its two listed add-on chapters and the follow-up Mirror of Fate HD without requiring them to identify each item separately. The demo also offers a short introduction to the next numbered game, although it should not be treated as that sequel itself.
Existing fans replacing a missing copy
Collectors should separate the value of the physical disc from the value of the voucher. A replacement case with no usable code may restore the first game but not the full set of digital chapters.
Buyers comparing listings
The meaningful comparison is not simply “PS3 versus Xbox 360.” Compare platform, region, disc condition, presence of the insert and confirmed redemption status. Those details determine how much of the advertised collection you can actually access.
Konami’s original positioning
In its announcement, Konami producer and European studio head Dave Cox said: “We think this is an excellent opportunity for newcomers and fans alike to get the full Castlevania: Lords of Shadow experience, engaging with the series in one ultimate compilation.” That is promotional language from the publisher, but it accurately signals the intended role of the package: a consolidated entry point built around the first game and its related downloadable chapters.

The complete contents are the physical Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, voucher access to Reverie, Resurrection and Mirror of Fate HD, plus a Lords of Shadow 2 demo. Choose the PS3 or Xbox 360 edition that matches your console, and treat the voucher as a separate condition check. For a used copy, only the disc is certain unless the seller confirms that the original code insert is present and unused.
