Hollow Knight: Silksong launched on September 4, 2025. When Team Cherry announced that date, reports described indie developers shifting some releases away from the same window—but the available reporting is not a definitive count of affected games, and it does not show that Silksong caused every delay.
Why indie games moved their release dates around Silksong
For a small game, choosing a launch date is also a decision about visibility. A release scheduled near a major, highly anticipated game may have a harder time drawing players’ attention. After Silksong’s date was announced, GameSpot reported that at least three launches moved, while PC Gamer later assembled a broader list of games described as delayed. Those are outlet-reported accounts, not an industry-wide census: they establish that some schedules changed, not how many games were affected overall.
Team Cherry describes itself as a small indie games team based in Adelaide, Australia. Silksong’s status as an indie release did not prevent its launch date from becoming a scheduling consideration for other developers.
What the reports establish—and what they don’t
- Some launch plans changed: GameSpot reported at least three moves, and PC Gamer published a broader list of reported delays.
- The evidence does not prove a single cause for every move: A date change near Silksong’s launch may reflect competition for attention, but the reporting does not establish that Silksong alone caused every project’s schedule change.
- There is no verified total here: The reported examples should not be presented as a complete tally of affected games.
- There is no supported precise wishlist or sales figure: Do not infer one from descriptions of Silksong’s prominence on Steam.

Valve’s Steam listing gives Hollow Knight: Silksong a release date of September 4, 2025. Nintendo’s official page announced availability on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. These cited platform sources establish digital availability; they do not establish a physical retail edition.
