The last confrontation is against Radahn, Miquella’s promised Lord, with Miquella appearing alongside him. Before the battle, Miquella says the vow will be honored and that his Lord brother’s soul will return. The Tarnished defeats them both.
What does the final memory reveal?
After the battle, a short memory looks back to Miquella and Radahn’s earlier promise. Miquella asks Radahn to become his consort once Miquella becomes a god, then says he will make the world gentler. The memory links Miquella’s journey through the Land of Shadow to this goal: the official expansion description says he divested himself of “his flesh, his strength, his lineage” and “all things Golden” while awaiting the return of his promised Lord (Bandai Namco’s expansion page).
How is Radahn alive in Shadow of the Erdtree?
The ending explanation reported by Windows Central connects Radahn’s return to the Secret Rite Scroll: “A lord will usher in a god’s return, and the lord’s soul will require a vessel.” The account explains that Radahn’s soul is placed in Mohg’s remains. This gives the story’s stated soul-and-vessel rationale for Radahn’s return; it does not settle every detail of how the rite worked or Radahn’s condition.

These unresolved points matter: the memory shows Miquella asking, but does not give Radahn’s answer or explain the vow in full. Treat theories about the agreement and the Caelid battle as theories, not established plot facts.

No new world order is shown being established. The Tarnished has defeated Miquella and Radahn, and the memory returns to an earlier promise rather than depicting Miquella ruling. In a June 17, 2024 interview with GameSpot, director Hidetaka Miyazaki said the ending gives Miquella’s arc a “definitive closure” while leaving room for interpretation. That describes the DLC’s conclusion to Miquella’s story; it is distinct from the player-selected ending of the base game.
