Blood & Glory was a Glu Mobile gladiator fighting game for Android and iOS, announced in 2011. It was later included in Glu’s legacy-title sunset notice: the company set September 9, 2021 as the cutoff for downloads and said the game would no longer be playable after November 8, 2021. Those are Glu’s announced dates—not proof that every existing installation stopped working at the same moment.
What was Blood & Glory?
Announced on November 18, 2011, Blood & Glory brought swipe-and-slash gladiator combat to Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Players fought in tournament-style arena battles, using weapons, armor, special attacks and combos. Glu’s launch announcement described the game’s format and platforms.
Glu’s Executive Producer Ric Neil pitched it as a spectacle, saying, “Fans of intense, realistic gameplay will enjoy the impressive graphics and historical detail in Blood & Glory.” That was promotional language from the publisher, not an independent assessment.
When and why did Blood & Glory disappear?
Glu first said the original game was no longer actively developed, though its FAQs and community forum remained available as support resources. The later Glu legacy-title notice is the clearest record of the game’s official sunset: it listed both Blood & Glory and Blood & Glory 2: Legend for removal from official distribution and play.

The notice establishes Glu’s intended end to official downloads and playability. It does not establish that every copy already installed became unusable on a precise date, nor does it explain a specific technical cause for the shutdown. Glu’s earlier support options page said development had ceased.
How did the game perform when it launched?
In a February 7, 2012 SEC-filed financial release, Glu said Blood & Glory and Frontline Commando had launched on the Apple App Store and Android Market and achieved strong Top Grossing chart rankings on both platforms. The company did not give a specific chart position for Blood & Glory, and the statement is Glu’s own contemporaneous report rather than an independently measured ranking series. Can you still play Blood & Glory?
Glu’s sunset notice does not verify whether a particular old device or installation still runs the game today. Nor do the available sources establish a safe, current route through unofficial downloads or emulators. A Reddit user asked about finding an emulator, but the question and its replies are anecdotal, not proof that any proposed method works. Treat claims of a guaranteed replay method cautiously, especially where they involve unverified APK files.
The sequel, Blood & Glory 2: Legend, is a separate title; its inclusion in Glu’s sunset notice does not change the status of the original. Neither the sunset notice nor the available evidence confirms a currently supported way to download and play either game.
