Allie wakes, realizes Oliver is missing, and runs to the river. She rescues him, but dies afterward. The official story summaries do not give a medical cause of death, so the game’s opening establishes what happens without naming a specific diagnosis. Level-5’s story summary and the publisher’s game page describe the accident and rescue.
Why does Oliver go to Ni no Kuni?
After Allie’s death, the tear fairy Shizuku tells Oliver that defeating Jabou, the threat to Ni no Kuni, may give him a chance to save his mother. Oliver sets out for the other world with that hope, and his journey becomes the game’s central quest. Level-5’s synopsis presents this as a possibility Oliver pursues, not a guaranteed outcome.

What does the opening reveal about Allie’s full story?
The official summaries establish Allie’s rescue and death, and explain why Oliver begins his journey. They do not provide enough detail to verify the late-game revelations or the complete resolution of her story. Those details require the game itself or a reliable full-plot account; the opening alone does not settle them.
Which version can you play?
The available editions vary by platform and region. The publisher lists a physical edition, while Level-5’s Japanese site identifies a Nintendo Switch package edition and remastered releases. Check the platform and region on the official listings before choosing a copy: Bandai Namco’s game page and Level-5’s Japanese site.
