The 2024 release window for PUBG’s extraction shooter was a forecast, not a launch date. The game first reported as Project Black Budget is now listed on Steam as PUBG: Black Budget, but the store page gives no release date and says it is not yet available. The available public evidence does not confirm whether development has ended, so its current development status remains unresolved.
What happened to PUBG’s extraction shooter?
On November 18, 2023, Insider Gaming reported that KRAFTON’s Project Black Budget was scheduled for the second half of 2024. That was a planned window at the time, not confirmation of a release. The project is now listed on Steam as PUBG: Black Budget, with PUBG Corporation named as developer and KRAFTON as publisher. Insider Gaming’s 2023 report and the current Steam listing establish the distinction between the old forecast and the present store status.
Steam currently says the game is not yet available and its release date is “To be announced.” A search result has also surfaced wording that development ended, but its URL leads to an unrelated Steam news feed rather than a directly accessible official announcement. That is not enough to verify cancellation. Until a direct, attributable notice is available, the most accurate answer is that no release date is announced and the development status is not confirmed by the accessible official listing.
What kind of game was Project Black Budget?
Steam describes PUBG: Black Budget as an FPP-first tactical extraction shooter set on an island caught in a time loop. The player is a contractor tasked with recovering technology. The store-page description presents extraction alongside research, base expansion, crafting, character progression, and PvPvE encounters. Is PUBG: Black Budget still coming out?
There is no confirmed answer in the accessible official information described here.
