Saber Interactive and Paramount announced an Avatar Legends action RPG in October 2024, but its current status is uncertain. In June 2026, a Paramount Games Studio executive said the game was not in production when the new studio was established. A later report attributed a response to Avatar co-creator Bryan Konietzko disputing that it had been canceled. Neither account confirms that Saber is still attached or that development has resumed.
Is the Saber Interactive Avatar RPG canceled?
There is no confirmed cancellation, but there is also no confirmation that the game is actively being made. The distinction matters: an executive said it was not in production at the formation of Paramount Games Studio, while a later report said co-creator Bryan Konietzko disputed that it had been canceled.
In a June 2026 interview reported by Yahoo Gaming, Paramount Games Studio executive Shawn Kittelsen said the RPG “wasn’t in production when we came in” and added, “So that game was not in production.” The report connected his remarks to the studio’s formation after the Paramount–Skydance merger. This describes the project’s status at that point; it does not establish that it was permanently canceled.
A July 2026 report by GameVicio attributed a response to Konietzko saying the game had not been canceled and describing a setback or reformulation. That account does not confirm a restarted production, a current development team, or Saber’s continued involvement.

What was the Avatar RPG supposed to be?
The October 3, 2024 announcement from Saber Interactive and Paramount Game Studios described an AAA action RPG set in the Avatar Legends universe, developed in collaboration with Avatar Studios. Its story would follow an all-new, previously unseen Avatar thousands of years in the past.
The announcement outlined plans for players to master all four elements, fight alongside companions, and make choices related to maintaining balance. These are announced intentions, not features confirmed through released gameplay or a playable version. The announcement did not specify a final title or establish whether the game would support single-player or multiplayer.

What platforms and release date were announced?
The announcement named PC and consoles broadly, but did not identify individual console platforms. No release date or window was given. The sources available also do not establish a preorder, gameplay footage, or a verified final title. “Ice Wars” has not been established as an official name for the project.

No. Paramount Games Studio introduced Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game on June 18, 2026, as a separate 1v1 fighting game spanning The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. It is not the announced Saber RPG, and its existence does not confirm the RPG’s development status. Paramount’s selected-games lineup on that page does not list the RPG.
