A change to Korea’s team format came amid the departures. Samsung later fielded Samsung Galaxy, which won Worlds in 2017 and was acquired by KSV. That later history belongs to the Samsung organization—not to a reunion of Samsung White’s champions.
How Samsung White became world champion
Samsung White defeated Star Horn Royal Club in the 2014 World Championship final. The series ended 3–1: Royal Club took Game 3, while White pulled ahead in the middle game in the other games, according to Riot Games’ October 19, 2014 report.
The champions were top laner Looper, jungler and captain DanDy, mid laner PawN, bot laner imp, and support Mata. Riot’s 2015 retrospective identifies Mata as the tournament’s Worlds MVP support.
Why did Samsung White break up?
Samsung White’s roster dispersed in late 2014. The departures took place amid a broader change to Korea’s competitive format: organizations could no longer field multiple teams. Samsung had both White and Samsung Blue, and the organization released players from both rosters, according to the Samsung White roster chronology and Samsung Galaxy organization history.

The format change is important context, but it should not be treated as the sole explanation for every player’s individual departure. The available team histories establish that the roster changed and that the rule change affected organizations with multiple teams; they do not provide a verified player quotation attributing each move to one cause.
What happened to the Samsung White players?
The key answer is that the championship five did not continue together as Samsung White. Their departures are recorded across late October and November 2014 in the team’s roster chronology. The sources establish the lineup and its dispersal, but do not provide a sufficiently supported, complete account of every player’s subsequent team move to present one here as definitive.

Was Samsung Galaxy the same team as Samsung White?
No—not in the sense of being the same five-player roster. Samsung Galaxy was the continuing Samsung organization’s later League of Legends team. It won the 2017 World Championship, and KSV announced its acquisition after that title in a November 30, 2017 announcement.
That sequence connects the teams through Samsung’s broader organizational history, not through the original White lineup staying intact. Samsung White’s 2014 championship and Samsung Galaxy’s 2017 championship are distinct achievements by different team lineups.

What is Samsung White remembered for?
Its firmly documented legacy is a world title, an identifiable five-player championship roster, and Mata’s MVP distinction. Riot’s 2014 Worlds final preview framed the final among the tournament’s past champions and the players whose names would join them. Whether White was the greatest League of Legends team ever is a matter of judgment, not a settled fact established by these records.
