A screenshot of the notice reportedly named Skibidi Toilet creator DaFuq!?Boom!, who denied trying to harm Newman or Garry’s Mod. Newman later said the matter was “all resolved.” The report did not establish who filed the notice, whether it was legally valid, or how it was resolved.
What did the reported DMCA notice claim?
In late July 2024, Newman posted a screenshot in a Discord server and said the notice had arrived earlier that year. Gizmodo reported that the screenshot alleged: “Significant revenue is being generated by unauthorized Skibidi Toilet Garry’s Mod games that are being advertised everywhere.” It also asserted that there was no licensed Steam, Valve, or Garry’s Mod content related to Skibidi Toilet.
The screenshot reportedly listed Garry’s Mod’s Steam page, named DaFuq!?Boom!, and included a copyright registration number that Gizmodo said was real and associated with Skibidi Toilet characters owned by Invisible Narratives. These are details reported from the screenshot; they do not independently establish who submitted the notice, which rights it invoked, or whether its claims were correct. Gizmodo’s July 30, 2024 report, updated July 31, is the source for the public account.
How did DaFuq!?Boom! and Newman respond?
Gizmodo reported that DaFuq!?Boom! said on Discord, “I have NEVER tried to cause any harm to Garry and Garry’s Mod.” He said that he and his team had been trying to remove sexually explicit Skibidi Toilet content from YouTube.

Newman later told IGN, in a statement quoted in Gizmodo’s update: “DaFuq has been in touch, all resolved.” That is Newman’s characterization of the outcome. The report does not describe a court ruling, formal settlement, or notice withdrawal, so it does not establish the legal mechanism or terms behind the resolution.
What does the “Skibidi Toilet movie” connection mean?
The film reference is context, not proof of who sent the notice. Gizmodo described Skibidi Toilet as a machinima series made with Valve Half-Life art assets and Garry’s Mod as a sandbox using Valve’s Source engine and user-created assets. It also reported that Michael Bay’s production company, Invisible Narratives, had announced development of a television show and film based on the series.

That production connection and the registration number mentioned in the screenshot do not establish that Invisible Narratives filed the notice. The available report does not identify the sender with certainty.
What do Facepunch’s policies say?
Facepunch Studios’ IP policy, last updated May 16, 2024, says a notice should identify the copyrighted work and allegedly infringing material, provide contact details, include a good-faith statement, and affirm under penalty of perjury that the notifier is authorized. This describes Facepunch’s stated process; it does not verify whether this particular notice met those requirements.

Facepunch’s Fan Content and Broadcast Guidelines, last updated July 15, 2025, allow standard revenue from video and streaming platforms subject to the guidelines, while other monetization methods require written approval. The guidelines also say they do not grant permission to use third-party intellectual property. They therefore do not decide the rights questions involving Skibidi Toilet or Valve assets raised by this report.

The most accurate description is therefore a reported DMCA notice tied to Skibidi Toilet content in Garry’s Mod, followed by a denial and Newman’s statement that the matter was resolved—not a proven lawsuit or ruling against the game or its creator.
