Canceling PlayStation Plus stops it from renewing, but it does not end your benefits immediately. You can keep using Plus until the end of the period you have already paid for. Once that period expires, subscription benefits—including monthly games, online storage and online multiplayer—are no longer available.
What changes when you cancel PlayStation Plus?
Cancellation turns off future continuation of the subscription. Your current access remains active until the paid period ends. PlayStation says you can reactivate before the next payment date if you change your mind. See PlayStation’s cancellation guidance for the applicable account steps.

At the end of that period, Plus benefits stop. The specific effects depend on which benefits you use:
- Monthly games claimed through Plus: Games obtained at no additional cost as part of the subscription become unavailable while your subscription is inactive.
- Online multiplayer: Most PS4 and PS5 games require Plus for online multiplayer, but some do not. Check the game’s PlayStation Store listing to confirm its requirement. PlayStation’s Plus FAQ describes the exceptions and higher-tier benefits.
- Online storage: Cloud storage for PS4 and PS5 saved data is a Plus benefit, so access to that benefit ends with the subscription. If you depend on cloud saves, check that your saves are synchronized and keep an available local backup before the paid period expires. PlayStation’s pages do not specify how long cloud saves remain after expiry or guarantee what happens to them if you subscribe again.
What do you keep after Plus expires?
PlayStation says redeemed PlayStation Plus packs and avatars remain yours, as do purchases you made at a Plus discount. These are distinct from monthly games claimed through the subscription, which become unavailable while Plus is inactive.

How to cancel PlayStation Plus
PlayStation lists three cancellation routes. Menu labels can vary by system software and region.
- Web browser: Open Account Management, go to Subscription, then select Cancel Subscription.
- PS5: Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions > PlayStation Plus > Cancel Subscription.
- PS4: Open PlayStation Plus, then go to Manage Membership > Subscription > Cancel Subscription.
