Linus turns down the invitation. During his eight-heart event, Robin offers to build him a cozy house, but Linus says he chooses his outdoor life and prefers to live in harmony with nature. He does not move onto your farm, and choosing the invitation has no effect on friendship.

How to trigger Linus’s eight-heart event

Reach eight hearts with Linus, then exit Robin’s house on a non-rainy day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The scene takes place outside the house, where Robin, Linus, and the player talk. Robin offers Linus lunch; after he declines, she asks what you want to say. The Stardew Valley Wiki’s Linus page lists the event trigger and dialogue.

What happens if you invite Linus?

If you choose “I’d like to invite Linus to live on the farm with me…,” Robin offers to build him “a real cozy house.” Linus politely refuses: he says he lives this way by choice and wants to live alone in harmony with nature. The scene ends with him running off to pick berries. The invitation does not begin a relocation quest, build a house, or move Linus onto the farm.

Which dialogue choice gives friendship points?

Dialogue choice Friendship result What happens
“I’m just pleased that Linus is doing well…” +250 friendship points Linus thanks you for respecting his way of life.
“I’d like to invite Linus to live on the farm with me…” No change Robin offers to build a house, and Linus declines.

The two responses lead to different dialogue, but only the first awards friendship points, according to the event details on the wiki.

Why Linus says no

Linus lives in a tent in the Mountain area and values his chosen life outdoors. His refusal is consistent with his preference to live by himself in nature, rather than a sign that the player has failed to befriend him. The game presents the invitation as a character moment within his heart event, not an offer that can change where he lives.
