The Dreaming City is still listed as a Destiny 2 destination in Bungie’s content baseline for Update 9.7.0, dated June 9, 2026; Bungie has not announced its removal in the official material cited here. If it ever enters the Destiny Content Vault (DCV), Bungie’s stated policy says its Triumph sets and Seals would move to Legacy: completed Triumphs would remain viewable, their score would no longer count toward Active Triumph Score, and Titles already earned would remain equippable. Bungie has removed quests in past vaulting transitions, but it has not specified what would happen to every Dreaming City Collections record or unfinished quest in a hypothetical future move.
Is the Dreaming City leaving Destiny 2?
No removal is currently announced in the Bungie material cited here. Bungie’s Destiny Content Vault page, updated to describe the content baseline for Update 9.7.0 on June 9, 2026, lists the Dreaming City among available destinations. The question is therefore hypothetical, not a report of a planned departure.
Bungie previously said the Dreaming City would remain available during the 2022 transition that vaulted the Forsaken campaign and Tangled Shore. That statement described the Year 5 change, not a guarantee of indefinite availability. Since August 2022, Bungie has said expansions would no longer be vaulted; that policy does not promise that destinations or activities can never leave.
What would happen to Dreaming City Triumphs and Seals?
Bungie’s Triumph guidance says Triumph sets and Seals associated with content that enters the DCV become Legacy. Its Year 4 Triumph update and Update 3.0.0.1 notes describe the practical effects:

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Completed Triumphs and their earned score remain viewable in the Legacy Triumph archive.
- Legacy Triumph score no longer contributes to Active Triumph Score. It is archived, not erased.
- Titles already earned from Legacy Seals remain equippable through Legacy Triumphs.
Bungie’s stated policy does not guarantee that unfinished Dreaming City Triumphs could still be completed after the destination became inaccessible. Whether any remaining objectives could be completed would depend on the content and the terms of a future transition.
Would Collections records or acquired items disappear?
Not necessarily—and the reviewed Bungie policy does not establish a complete answer. Bungie says destination-specific PvE content, including collectibles and scannables, becomes unavailable when a destination enters the DCV. That concerns access to the destination and its content; it does not say that every already-recorded Collections item, acquired piece of gear, lore entry, cosmetic, or other account record is deleted or retained.

It helps to separate two questions: could you still reach the location or activity to earn something, and would something already acquired or recorded remain on your account? Bungie’s general DCV explanation answers the access question, but does not settle every Collections or account-record outcome.
Could unfinished Dreaming City quests be removed?
They could be, based on precedent, but Bungie has not announced what it would do with Dreaming City quests in a hypothetical future vaulting. Before Year 5 began on February 22, 2022, Bungie said that bounties, missions, and quests tied to a specified set of vaulted destinations, campaigns, and seasons would be removed from inventories. The same Year 5 item notice said WANTED Bounties and Enemies Triumphs would move under the Tangled Shore area in the Legacy Triumph Archive.

Bungie’s later Year 7 and Year 8 notices also listed items and quests to be deprecated for their specific transitions. These notices show that inventory handling is communicated transition by transition; they do not establish that every future destination quest will be treated identically.
Would quest rewards get another way to earn them?
There is no confirmed alternate acquisition route for any particular Dreaming City quest reward in the cited material. Bungie has described other ways to earn some rewards in past notices, but that is not a promise that a specific Dreaming City reward would receive a replacement route. Check the exact transition notice rather than assuming the reward will remain obtainable.

What to do if Bungie announces a Dreaming City transition
- Read Bungie’s transition notice for its effective date and the specific content affected.
- Check the notice for quest and inventory handling, including any missions or quests to be removed.
- Review its Triumph and Seal details to see which sets move to Legacy and whether any unfinished objectives remain completable.
- Look for explicit Collections and reward guidance; do not infer that records are erased, preserved, or given an alternate acquisition route unless Bungie says so.
- Finish destination-dependent steps before the effective date if completing them matters to you.
What Bungie says becomes unavailable when a destination enters the DCV
Bungie’s August 20, 2020 DCV explanation states: “When a destination enters the DCV, its PvE content will no longer be available.” The examples include story missions and cinematics, strikes, raids, dungeons, adventures, secret missions, vendors and related bounties, destination patrols, collectibles and scannables, destination activities, Lost Sectors, and free roaming or exploration. This is a statement about access to destination content, not a complete policy for every record or item already on an account.
Bungie describes the DCV as a continuing content model in which some destinations and activities cycle out, with vaulted content potentially returning. A future Dreaming City change would need its own announcement to establish its timing and exact effects.
