It gives you a safe fast-travel point and a nearby place to resupply, manage contracts, and handle other Hideout services while you’re away from your central base.
What you can do at a kakurega
Kakurega are small outposts that extend selected Hideout functions into different parts of the world. Ubisoft lists these services at them:

- Refill rations, tools, and ammunition.
- Access your gear stash.
- Manage and accept contracts.
- Replenish scouts.
- Manage which allies can be summoned for help.
That makes a kakurega useful as both a service stop and a staging point before continuing an activity in the region. Ubisoft describes these locations as being outside enemy-controlled territory, which is why their fast-travel points are considered safe. Ubisoft’s exploration overview details these functions and the safe-travel rationale.
How kakurega differ from the Hideout
The Hideout is your central home base; kakurega are distributed safehouses that bring some of its practical services closer to where you are exploring. They are not replacements for the Hideout’s broader role, but they reduce the need to return to it whenever you want to resupply or use the listed management options. Ubisoft calls them “small extensions” of the Hideout in its Hideout deep dive.

How kakurega upgrades relate to scouts
Upgrading the Kakurega at the Hideout can lead scouts to report rumors pointing to unique treasure and collectibles. Those rumors appear when you check the contracts board, according to Ubisoft’s beginner guide.
The Hideout’s Nando building also reduces the cost of recalling scouts, and Ubisoft says that benefit applies to all Kakurega safehouses. The upgrade therefore connects your central base to the usefulness of scouts when operating farther afield.
