The word alone does not prove someone works for Roblox: community owners can choose that role name and set its permissions.
What does “Roblox admin” mean?
The term has two distinct meanings. Roblox staff and platform moderators address Roblox-wide rules and safety. Community or experience admins have authority granted by a community owner or creator, and their permissions apply only in that context.
| Role | Who grants the authority? | What rules or permissions apply? | Where to take a concern? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roblox staff or platform moderator | Roblox | Platform Community Standards and moderation actions | Use Report Abuse or Roblox Customer Support for platform concerns. Roblox describes an appeal opportunity when access to content is restricted. |
| Community admin | The community owner, or a member with permission to manage roles | Permissions assigned within that community; role hierarchy can restrict whom a person may act against | Contact the community owner about a community-role or moderation dispute. Report platform-rule violations to Roblox. |
| Experience admin or creator | The experience creator | Creator-administered rules specific to that experience, subject to Roblox’s platform rules | For an issue with experience-specific rules, Roblox’s Terms of Use direct users to contact the creator. Use Roblox’s reporting route for suspected platform-standard violations. |
How can you tell if someone is an official Roblox staff member?
Do not treat a person’s display name, avatar, message, or community rank as proof of Roblox employment. Roblox Support has a dedicated article titled How can I tell who is a Roblox Staff member or Admin? Use Roblox’s own verification guidance when someone claims official status. The available support information establishes that this guidance exists, but does not provide its detailed verification steps here.
If the person is asking you to break rules, share account credentials, or move a dispute into a private channel, do not rely on their claimed title. Use Roblox’s official reporting and support options instead of granting them authority based on a claim.

What can a community admin do?
Community owners can create roles with custom names such as “Moderator” or “Admin,” choose permissions for those roles, and assign members. Members who have permission to manage roles may also create or change roles and assign members. The label is local; the permissions selected by the owner determine the role’s actual authority.
- Moderation permissions: A role may include community moderation functions, depending on the permissions assigned.
- Role hierarchy: Role order affects authority. For certain permissions, a member cannot act against someone whose highest role is equal to or higher than their own.
- Scope: A community role does not give its holder Roblox-wide moderation powers or establish that the person is a Roblox employee.
Because role settings can change, check Roblox’s current community roles and permissions documentation for the precise controls and limits.

Who handles a rule violation or dispute?
For a community or experience rule
Start with the relevant community owner or experience creator. Roblox’s Terms of Use say creators administer experience-specific rules and direct users with issues about those rules to contact the creator. A creator’s local rules are separate from Roblox’s Community Standards.
For content or behavior that may violate Roblox rules
Use Roblox’s Report Abuse controls or contact Customer Support. Roblox says its Safety team and automated systems work to identify and respond to violations. Its content-moderation guidance describes possible consequences including warnings, content removal, and account restrictions; when access to content is restricted, Roblox says users are notified and offered an opportunity to appeal. These are possible processes and outcomes, not a guarantee about an individual report.

Owners and creators have responsibilities beyond assigning a role name. Roblox advises community owners to use its moderation tools and make efforts to address harmful behavior. Creator guidance recommends safety-first design, limiting or pre-moderating user-generated content where appropriate, and checking safety analytics for patterns in abuse reports.
