An “R63 Roblox avatar” is not an official Roblox avatar rig or setting. It is community slang that often refers to a gender-swapped version of a character, though the term’s meaning can vary by community and context.
What does R63 mean in the Roblox community?
In developer and fandom conversations, R63 commonly describes a character redesigned as a different gender—for example, a female version of a male character. A Roblox Developer Forum creator used the term for a female version of one of their characters, and a secondary explainer connects this usage to Rule 63. These are community uses, not a Roblox-defined feature: Roblox Developer Forum example and Playgama’s explanation.

Is R63 an official Roblox rig?
No. Roblox’s Creator Hub documents R6 and R15 as rig types, and its experience avatar settings include R6, R15, and PlayerChoice. R63 is not listed as an official rig or avatar setting in those pages. It does not mean a rig that comes after R15. See Roblox’s documentation for GameAvatarType, HumanoidRigType, and Avatar Settings.
How R63 differs from R6 and R15
| Term | Status | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| R6 | Official Roblox rig | A legacy character rig with six body parts, designed for classic blocky-style avatars. |
| R15 | Official Roblox rig | A rig that supports up to 15 body parts and a wider range of avatar styles and capabilities. |
| R63 | Community slang | Often a gender-swapped character design; its connotations vary in Roblox communities. |
Roblox CTO Daniel Sturman described R6 as a technology stack for classic blocky-style avatars with six body parts, while R15 supports more avatar styles and capabilities. The similar-looking names do not make R63 a technical rig type. Roblox, “How Roblox Avatar Tech Is Evolving”.

Why the term can be confusing
Not every Roblox community uses R63 the same way. Some discussions associate it with sexualized material, but that evidence is anecdotal and does not establish how common that meaning is. A reference to R63 is not automatically sexual, nor does the label guarantee that content is harmless. If you encounter it in a game listing, image, or discussion, use the surrounding context rather than assuming it names an official avatar option. A community discussion illustrates the more adult association: Reddit discussion.

What to know before searching for R63
- Treat R63 as an informal community label, not a Roblox account setting or rig selection.
- Expect the gender-swapped character meaning in some creator and fandom discussions, but check context because usage is inconsistent.
- Search results or experiences may include sexualized material; younger players should avoid unfamiliar results and ask a trusted adult if a result seems inappropriate.
