Battlefield 6’s single-player campaign is a nine-mission story set in 2027, where the Marine Raiders squad Dagger 1-3 fights Pax Armata as NATO’s unity weakens. The political crisis is fictional: Electronic Arts describes a world strained by financial instability, proxy wars, political disputes, and distrust within NATO. The campaign trailer was released on September 24, 2025; the game launched the following month.
What is Battlefield 6’s campaign about?
The campaign follows Dagger 1-3, an elite Marine Raiders squad working to stop Pax Armata, a private military company that EA says aims to reshape global power. In the story, NATO is close to fracturing, and Pax Armata exploits the instability. That is the game’s fictional premise, not a forecast or account of a real-world crisis.
EA presented Battlefield 6 as a return to one continuous single-player narrative after Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V used separate “War Stories” episodes. The campaign follows several squad members within that connected story.
When is Battlefield 6 set?
The story takes place in 2027. EA’s launch announcement described the setting as a world “on the edge of chaos”; its campaign materials point to financial instability, proxy wars, political disputes, and a loss of trust among NATO members as the backdrop. These details explain the game’s fictional conflict rather than describe current events.

EA described battles across three continents, including a tank battle in the shadow of the Pyramids, street fighting in Brooklyn, a HALO jump, and an assault on Gibraltar’s beaches. These are locations and set pieces highlighted by the publisher, not a complete mission-by-mission walkthrough.
EA also says campaign and multiplayer share an interconnected world: campaign missions visit locales and battles that appear in the All-Out Warfare multiplayer setting. This describes the shared fictional world, not a requirement to play multiplayer to follow the campaign.
