During Battlefield 6’s August 2025 open beta, some players asked EA for a third weekend so they could try a larger map. EA had scheduled two weekends, and its own debrief acknowledged feedback from players eager for larger-scale combat. The request was real, but the available comments do not show how widely it was shared. By 2026, EA was discussing further large-scale maps as part of its plans—not a still-missing first opportunity to play them.
What players were asking for
The beta’s maps leaned toward smaller, faster-paced matches. In public posts during the beta, some players put the request plainly: “Great excuse for a 3rd beta test with larger maps!” and “We need a 3rd weekend to try an actual large map for the complete feedback.” These comments capture a visible slice of the discussion, not a representative poll of Battlefield 6 players. No reliable statistic establishes how many wanted another weekend.
EA scheduled two beta weekends, not three
EA’s open-beta guide, published August 4, 2025, listed two periods: August 9–10 and August 14–17. The second weekend included the first weekend’s maps and added Empire State, an infantry-only setting among Brooklyn alleys, rooftops, and streets. The guide did not announce a third weekend. EA acknowledged the larger-map feedback
In its August 21, 2025 debrief, the Battlefield Team described the beta as featuring “smaller, more fast-paced maps” and confirmed it had heard strong feedback from players excited by larger-scale maps. The team wrote: “While the Open Beta featured smaller, more fast-paced maps, larger-scale maps are already part of our launch package, delivering action-packed gameplay and memorable, unique moments for every player.” Read the Battlefield Team’s debrief

EA named Mirak Valley and a remake of Battlefield 3’s Operation Firestorm as maps planned for upcoming Battlefield Labs testing. It said those tests would feature the full complement of vehicles and a more expansive combat space. That was EA’s stated testing plan in August 2025, not a promise that a third beta weekend would happen.
Why “larger” means more than acreage
The debate was about the kind of match the maps enabled, not simply how much ground a map covered. EA’s debrief noted that map size, lanes, combat spaces, and player counts interact. An infantry-focused map such as Empire State emphasizes close engagements; a larger combined-arms design can give vehicles and infantry more room to shape a fight. Those differences affect pace, routes, and how a mode plays.

What EA said about maps later
By its 2026 community update, EA said three maps were planned for Season 5: one focused more closely on infantry combat and two supporting larger-scale combined-arms warfare. EA also said testing was underway in Battlefield Labs. These were plans as described in that update; they do not establish a specific release date or guarantee a final map roster. So the third-weekend request belongs to the history of the 2025 beta: some players wanted a chance to try a larger map before launch, while EA said larger-scale maps were already in the launch package. EA’s subsequent map updates continued to address the distinction between infantry-focused and combined-arms play.
