Blumhouse Games is Blumhouse’s video-game publishing and production division, launched to partner with independent developers on original horror games. Blumhouse announced it on February 21, 2023; the division later revealed a six-game first slate in June 2024. Its launch plan named console, PC and mobile, with indie-budget projects targeted below $10 million—a stated target, not a confirmed budget for any individual game.
What is Blumhouse Games?
Blumhouse Games is a subsidiary created to produce and publish video games. Rather than simply adapting Blumhouse film properties, its announced approach was to collaborate with independent studios on original horror-themed projects. The division named Zach Wood as president and Don Sechler as CFO at launch. Bloody Disgusting’s February 21, 2023 report described the launch and its strategy.
The announcement positioned the division as a way for Blumhouse to expand into interactive entertainment. Abhijay Prakash, then identified as Blumhouse president, said: “For some time we have been looking to build out a team to start accessing the growth opportunity in interactive media.”
When did Blumhouse launch its gaming division?
Blumhouse announced Blumhouse Games on February 21, 2023. Its first announced slate came later: on June 7, 2024, the division revealed six games in development with independent studios. The 2023 launch announcement and 2024 slate announcement describe different milestones, not a single release date.

Is Blumhouse Games making horror games?
Yes. Its announced focus is original horror games made with independent developers. The launch plan covered console, PC and mobile, and reported a target of projects with indie budgets below $10 million. Bloody Disgusting reported that figure in 2023 as a strategic target; it is not a disclosed final budget for any of the six games.
The range of concepts in the first slate suggests the division was not limiting itself to one horror format: the projects included puzzle-led teen horror, first-person horror, an investigation, and a farming simulation with a supernatural killer premise. Zach Wood, identified as Blumhouse Games president in the 2024 announcement, described the collaborators as independent creators bringing unique ideas to horror.
