Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy and narrative strategy game from AdHoc Studio. It combines cinematic story choices with a recurring dispatch-management loop: you assign a roster of former villains to emergencies, and their performance can affect what happens next. The “ex-Telltale” connection describes the team’s experience—not the studio that made the game.
What is Dispatch?
You play as Robert Robertson, also known as Mecha Man. After his nemesis destroys his mech suit, Robert takes a job at a superhero dispatch center. His work involves rehabilitating former villains as superheroes while he rebuilds his suit and pursues revenge. The game mixes that larger personal story with office relationships and the everyday pressures of coordinating emergency responses.
That setup makes Dispatch more than a sequence of branching conversations. Its workplace-comedy premise is tied to a management system in which the people you send into the field—and the results they get—matter to the story.
How does gameplay work?
The game alternates between narrative scenes and dispatch shifts. In story segments, you make decisions in conversations and relationships. During shifts, you assess incidents and send heroes according to their strengths and shortcomings. Those choices create two connected kinds of responsibility: deciding how Robert handles people, then deciding who is best equipped to handle an emergency.

Choices in the story shape dispatch options, while mission performance feeds back into the narrative. An assignment also involves trade-offs: sending a hero to a minor incident may leave the city less prepared for a larger one. The roster’s misfit personalities are part of the challenge, not just decoration; their abilities and flaws affect how the team handles its work.
Do your choices matter in Dispatch?
Yes. The game’s official descriptions say that decisions influence the unfolding narrative, and Xbox Wire describes a feedback loop between story choices, dispatch options, and mission outcomes. The available information supports meaningful links between those systems, but does not specify a complete choice-by-choice breakdown or promise a particular number of endings.

Who made Dispatch, and what does “ex-Telltale” mean?
Dispatch was made by AdHoc Studio, not Telltale Games. AdHoc was founded in 2018 by industry veterans from Telltale Games, Ubisoft, and Night School Studio, and many members of its team previously worked at Telltale. Calling the game “from ex-Telltale developers” points to that team history and creative lineage; it should not be mistaken for a Telltale production.

Who is Dispatch likely to appeal to?
- Players who want story choices with a management layer: The game pairs character decisions with recurring hero assignments rather than focusing on dialogue alone.
- Fans of superhero workplace comedy: Its premise centers on office relationships, politics, emergencies, and an unconventional roster of former villains.
- Players deciding by platform: The listed PC and Xbox availability differs by storefront and date, so check the relevant store listing for the platform you plan to use.
The official descriptions establish the game’s blend of narrative and dispatch strategy, but they do not provide a benchmark comparison with another title. Whether that mix suits you depends on how much you want to balance character drama against tactical assignment decisions.
