Fortnite announced Six Stack in July 2025 as a Blitz Royale mode for squads of six. The announcement established the mode’s format, but the available official information does not confirm whether Six Stack is selectable in Fortnite’s live playlist on October 8, 2026.
What Six Stack is
Six Stack was announced specifically for Blitz Royale—not as a general six-player squad option for Fortnite’s standard Battle Royale or Zero Build modes. In a July 27, 2025 post, Fortnite’s official account described it as a mode for “squads of six”; Insider Gaming reproduced the announcement in a report published July 28, 2025.
The same announcement introduced Pure Chaos, a separate Blitz Royale mode described as having more siphon and higher-skilled opponents. Six Stack’s defining change was team size: it let a squad bring six players into a big team battle.
How Six Stack fit into Blitz Royale
Blitz Royale launched with smaller team formats. Epic Games’ June 17, 2025 announcement described it as a 32-player mode on a small map, with matches that could end in five minutes or less. The launch post listed solo play and squads of four; an update added duos on June 18.

The 32-player count and five-minute-or-less match description refer to Blitz Royale’s initial launch description, not a confirmed Six Stack lobby size or a guarantee about every match. The announcement does not specify how Six Stack affected the total number of players in a match.
Can you play Blitz Royale with six friends now?
That is not confirmed by the available information. Epic’s Blitz Royale page still represents the mode and has recent community update listings, but it does not establish that Six Stack is currently selectable. Playlists can change, so check the in-game mode selector for Six Stack before organizing a six-person squad.

The July 2025 announcement also does not establish that six-player squads are available in standard Battle Royale or Zero Build. Its scope was Blitz Royale.
