The unofficial LSFG-Android project brings this technique to some Android devices through screen capture and an overlay; its developers report support for Adreno 7xx-class GPUs and newer, but estimate 50–80 ms of additional latency compared with their Linux Vulkan-layer approach.
What LSFG frame generation does
Lossless Scaling describes LSFG as a machine-learning frame generator that can be used with or without image scaling. It synthesizes intermediate frames from the game’s rendered output. That can make movement appear smoother, but the generated frames are not new game-simulation steps: they do not mean the game is processing input or updating its world at the displayed rate.
Keep two rates separate when judging the result:
- Rendered FPS: frames the game itself produces.
- Displayed FPS: rendered frames plus interpolated frames shown on screen.
The Android project’s HUD distinguishes real FPS from total FPS. A higher displayed figure therefore describes smoother-looking presentation, not necessarily more responsive controls.
How LSFG-Android works
According to the project, a non-rooted Android app cannot use the Linux-style implicit Vulkan layer to hook another game’s swapchain. LSFG-Android instead captures the visible display with Android’s MediaProjection API, interpolates frames, and presents the result in a system overlay. The project documents LSFG_3_1 and LSFG_3_1P modes, multipliers from 2× to 8×, adjustable flow scale, pacing controls, and a frame-graph HUD; these are documented features, not independent performance findings. MediaProjection requires the user’s approval each time a capture session starts, and Android displays a persistent system indicator while screen capture is active. This capture-and-overlay design is also the reason the project’s documentation gives for the added latency compared with its Linux approach.
Which Android devices may work?
The project README reports end-to-end frame generation on Adreno 7xx-class GPUs and newer. Its 0.1.0 release notes list Android 10 or later, an arm64 device, Vulkan 1.2 or later, and required Vulkan extensions. They also say a device without VK_EXT_robustness2 may fall back to capture-only mirror mode rather than full frame generation. Android’s Vulkan support begins with Android 7.0, but not every device running Android 7.0 or newer supports Vulkan. Driver capabilities and performance also vary by GPU vendor and generation. Check the specific phone’s GPU, Vulkan version, and required extensions rather than treating the Android version or chipset family alone as a guarantee. Android Developers: Vulkan support

Lossless.dll, then select the game or other target app. - Approve Android’s MediaProjection prompt when starting each capture session.
LSFG-Android does not bundle or distribute Lossless.dll; the project requires users to have a legitimately purchased copy of Lossless Scaling. Its documentation also says the app license bars commercial use. Read the project’s current setup and license notes before installing.
What changes for responsiveness and image quality?
Motion may look smoother; input does not gain the same rate
The Android project estimates 50–80 ms of additional latency versus its Linux Vulkan-layer approach. This is the developer’s estimate, not an independently measured result. In practical terms, the generated motion can look smoother while controls still feel tied more closely to the game’s underlying rendered rate, with extra delay from the Android capture-and-overlay path. That trade-off matters most in fast-response games or for players particularly sensitive to input lag.

Results depend on the game and display
Lossless Scaling’s vendor guidance recommends a game running at 60 FPS with a 120 Hz display for best quality. It also says 30 FPS with a 60 Hz display can be used in some games at resolutions up to 1080p. Interpolation can also produce image artifacts, and the supplied project and platform documentation do not establish a representative artifact rate or controlled quality result across games and devices. For a useful comparison, note the game’s actual rendered FPS alongside displayed FPS, check the phone’s refresh rate and Vulkan support, and judge image quality and input feel in the specific game.

Is LSFG-Android worth considering?
It is an experimental option for Android players who already have compatible hardware and Lossless Scaling, and who value smoother-looking motion enough to accept a sideload workflow, recurring capture permission, and the project’s estimated latency cost. It is a poor fit if low input latency is the priority or if the handset’s GPU and Vulkan extensions are uncertain. Android’s own game-development guidance emphasizes correct frame pacing as part of high-quality gameplay; that general guidance is not an endorsement or test of LSFG-Android.
