For ordinary crystal nodes in ARK, the Ankylosaurus is the best-supported general choice: the ARK Official Community Wiki rates it five stars for crystal gathered per action. That is a relative rating, not a measured yield guarantee. If you are harvesting crystal bushes in Genesis’s lunar biome, the wiki describes a separate Bronto-based method.
Best creature for ordinary crystal nodes
Use an Ankylosaurus (Anky) for ordinary crystal nodes. The ARK Official Community Wiki’s Crystal page assigns it five stars for crystal gained per action. The rating supports a broad recommendation, but does not provide a numeric yield, test conditions, or a comparison across maps, game modes, and server settings.
The same comparison also gives the Dunkleosteus five stars. It does not establish a numeric yield difference between the two, so the available rating alone cannot say which one gathers more crystal in practice.
How the Anky’s harvesting options work
The Ankylosaurus page describes its tail swing as harvesting rocks and trees. Its Harvest Only menu lists Metal, Stone, and Flint; it does not list a Crystal-only choice. The page’s 85% weight reduction applies to metal, not crystal, so it should not be treated as a crystal-carrying bonus.

When to use the Genesis lunar biome method
For crystal bushes in Genesis’s lunar biome, the Crystal page describes harvesting with a Bronto and says a Deinonychus passenger can improve the method. This is a map- and source-specific alternative, not a general replacement for an Anky at ordinary crystal nodes.
