There is no verified single best Electric-type Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A yet. Official sources confirm Mega Ampharos, Mega Eelektross and, in the Mega Dimension DLC, Mega Zeraora as candidates—but do not provide the comparable stats, moves, availability details or performance data needed to rank them. For now, treat them as options to evaluate, not a proven tier list.
Which Electric-type Pokémon should you use?
Choose based on what your team needs and how the Pokémon’s moves perform in real-time battles. The official game materials establish that movement, switching, type matchups, move timing, range and startup speed all matter. A high headline stat alone would not establish which Pokémon works best in practice; that is an inference from the battle design, not a measured comparison of these candidates.
The official pages reviewed confirm three notable Mega-Evolved options, but do not establish a complete Electric-type roster. They also do not compare these Pokémon directly, so there is not enough evidence for a reliable overall winner or numbered ranking.
Confirmed Electric-type candidates
| Candidate | What official sources establish | What remains unconfirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Ampharos | Nintendo’s official product page features Mega Ampharos among the game’s Mega-Evolved Pokémon. | The page does not provide comparative battle stats, moves, encounter details or a recommendation ranking. |
| Mega Eelektross | The Pokémon Company’s official Pokémon roster page lists it among newly discovered Mega-Evolved Pokémon. | The retrieved page text does not give battle stats, moves, encounter details or a comparative ranking. |
| Mega Zeraora | The Pokémon Company’s November 19, 2025 announcement identifies Mega Zeraora as Electric type and associates it with Mega Dimension. | The announcement does not compare its battle performance with the other candidates. It should not be treated as a base-game option on the strength of this announcement. |
Why real-time battles make a simple ranking unreliable
In Legends: Z-A, Pokémon and Trainers move during battles, and the Trainer directs when moves are used. The Pokémon Company’s official battle feature page says that decisions include type matchups, switching, the timing of move selection, a move’s reach and how quickly it can be unleashed. Nintendo’s game page also describes the real-time battle system.
#1 Best Overall
- Venture into Hyperspace Lumiose in this additional story content that can be accessed after completing the main game
- Work with the mysterious baker, Ansha, to make donuts that awaken the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa’s power and grant you and your Pokémon a variety of useful effects
- Join Team MZ and the Mega Evolution Successor, Korrina, to investigate Hyperspace Lumiose, the otherworldly home to rare and hyper-strong Pokémon
- Discover new Mega Evolutions such as Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y, Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur
- Claim Holo-X and Holo-Y in-game apparel items, which you can wear as soon as you are able to customize your character’s look and outfit in the main game
Those mechanics mean a useful comparison needs more than a list of stats: it needs move timing, range or area of effect, and how each Pokémon fits into a team that may need to switch as the battlefield changes. The cited official pages do not supply those candidate-by-candidate details, so claims that one of these Pokémon is the strongest, easiest to use or best for a particular matchup would be premature.
Does Mega Zeraora require the DLC?
Mega Zeraora is tied to Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension in the Pokémon Company’s November 19, 2025 announcement. Nintendo says the DLC requires the full game and is sold separately on its product page. The announcement therefore supports considering Mega Zeraora for the DLC context, not assuming it is available in the base game.

- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
What would establish the best pick?
A dependable recommendation needs current, comparable game data for the Electric-type options in the version being played. In particular, check each candidate’s role and matchup coverage, move startup and reach, switching fit, and whether access depends on Mega Evolution or DLC. The official pages cited here confirm some candidates and relevant battle mechanics, but do not provide a complete encounter list, individual battle data or tested results. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition plus Mega Dimension bundle announced on September 30, 2026 is scheduled for October 29, 2026, so it had not yet been released as of October 8, 2026, according to the official updates page.
