There is no single best Faith weapon in Dark Souls. For a Faith-focused character with little Strength or Dexterity investment, a suitable weapon on the Divine path is a practical default. Characters with the stats to wield weapons such as Grant or the Crescent Axe can instead choose around their innate scaling and preferred moveset. The right pick depends on your stats, requirements, damage type and whether you want permanent Faith scaling or a weapon you can temporarily buff.
Choose by build, not by a universal ranking
Faith contributes to attack rating when a weapon has Faith scaling; the weapon’s scaling values and your character’s stats both matter. A weapon’s displayed scaling label alone does not establish which option will deal the most damage for your character. The Faith reference and the scaling reference describe the underlying relationship, but the available information does not provide a controlled, endgame damage-per-second comparison.
- High Faith, low Strength and Dexterity: Choose a weapon you like using and consider upgrading it along the Divine path. This adds Faith scaling without requiring you to build around a weapon’s higher physical-stat requirements.
- Faith plus substantial physical stats: Consider innate Faith-related weapons such as Grant or the Crescent Axe if you meet their requirements and prefer their attacks. They are distinct build choices, not automatic winners.
- Weapon you want to buff temporarily: Treat this as a separate choice from a weapon whose upgrade path permanently adds Faith scaling. Decide based on the weapon and the buff interaction you want rather than assuming every Faith character should use the same path.
Divine and Occult are different upgrade choices
Divine: a sensible default for a Faith-heavy build
Divine adds Faith scaling and magic damage, while reducing physical damage and Strength/Dexterity scaling. It also adds a Divine auxiliary effect. The path is described as suited to characters with high Faith and comparatively low Strength and Dexterity. See the Divine upgrade reference.
Occult: stronger Faith scaling does not mean a universal damage win
Occult raises Faith scaling but lowers base magic damage. The reference states that Occult magic damage remains below Divine’s even at 99 Faith, while Occult physical damage can exceed Divine’s. That is a path-level comparison, not proof that every weapon, stat spread or target produces the same winner. See the Occult upgrade reference.

Compare the damage components and your build rather than choosing by scaling letter or the word “Faith” alone. Physical and magic damage are separate components, so a weapon’s total result depends on more than its Faith scaling.
Faith-related weapons have different requirements
The Faith reference lists several weapons with Faith requirements. These examples show the range of choices, not a ranked list; check the full Strength and Dexterity requirements as well as whether the weapon’s moveset suits you.

These weapon names and requirements come from the Faith reference. Requirements matter: the reference warns that failing a weapon’s Faith requirement causes a damage penalty and bouncing attacks. Meeting the Faith requirement alone does not mean you meet its other stat requirements.

How to make the final choice
- Start with your actual Strength, Dexterity and Faith, not the weapon you hope to use eventually.
- Confirm every stat requirement before committing to a weapon; failing the Faith requirement can penalize damage and cause attacks to bounce.
- Decide whether you want the Divine or Occult path’s permanent damage profile, or a separate weapon intended for a temporary buff.
- Choose a moveset and reach you are comfortable using. A theoretical attack-rating advantage is not useful if the weapon’s attacks do not fit your play.
- For a strict damage comparison, hold weapon, upgrade level, character stats, buffs and target defenses constant. A result without those conditions cannot establish a universal best weapon.
