The Chinese version of PUBG Mobile is 和平精英 (Hépíng Jīngyīng), which is known in English as Game for Peace and, in some Tencent materials, as Peacekeeper Elite. Tencent introduced it in China in May 2019 to replace its PUBG Mobile test version there. That answer covers the mobile game only. It does not mean that PUBG: Battlegrounds on PC or console was swapped out under a Chinese name.
Which PUBG the question usually means
“PUBG” can refer to two products. PUBG: Battlegrounds is the PC and console title from PUBG Corporation. PUBG Mobile is the phone version developed with Tencent. When people ask for the “Chinese version,” they almost always mean the mobile game, because that is the release that had a separate Chinese-market counterpart. The PC and console game is a different case, and the evidence behind this article does not show it being replaced by a Chinese-branded title.

What Game for Peace is
Game for Peace is the Chinese-market battle royale title that took PUBG Mobile’s place in China. Its Chinese name, 和平精英, translates roughly as “peace elite.” The English name you will see most often is Game for Peace. Peacekeeper Elite is the English rendering that appears in Tencent’s own investor materials, including a presentation dated March 20, 2024. Both names point to the same game.
How the replacement happened
Before 2019, Tencent ran a PUBG Mobile test version for the Chinese market, and that version had not been commercially monetized. In May 2019, Tencent replaced it with Game for Peace. Contemporary reporting from TechCrunch and TechNode, both dated May 8, 2019, described PUBG Mobile being delisted in China as the new title arrived. TechNode also reported that the replacement had received approval from China’s publishing authority and could be monetized. A TechCrunch follow-up dated May 9, 2019 reported that Game for Peace had quickly climbed the revenue charts.

What the reporting does not settle
The sources behind this answer date from 2019 and 2024. They establish the identity of the Chinese mobile title and the circumstances of its launch. They do not establish the following, so do not treat them as current facts:
- Whether Game for Peace is available to download today, and through which Chinese app stores.
- Whether players outside mainland China can access it, and what account or region requirements apply.
- How gameplay differs from the global PUBG Mobile release in the present day.
- The release or regional status of PUBG: Battlegrounds on PC and console in China.
If you need to play it or buy it, check the current listing in the relevant Chinese app store or Tencent’s official game pages, since availability can change.
