How to reach the level 5 cap

Complete the River Raids tutorial and build the Jomsviking Hall. Ubisoft’s River Raids guide identifies the Hall as the place to attract Jomsvikings.

Upgrade the Hall through its available levels. Ubisoft’s September 6, 2021 patch notes specify that Hall levels 4 and 5 allow players to hire Jomsvikings at levels 4 and 5, respectively.

Hire a level 5 Jomsviking from the Hall. Level 5 is the highest hire level documented in those official notes.

What a higher Jomsviking level changes
Higher-level Jomsvikings are more effective in River Raids: Ubisoft says they carry more rations and deal more damage to enemies. Its River Raids guide also describes a combat boost and increased ration capacity with each new level, which can help your crew stay on a raid longer.
Is this Eivor’s level?
No. Level 5 here refers to the Jomsviking and the Hall’s hire level, not Eivor’s character level. Ubisoft’s 2020 post-launch announcement discusses Jomsviking XP and rank-ups separately; it also says a higher-ranked player-created lieutenant can earn more silver when recruited by other players. That lieutenant-related detail should not be confused with the Hall’s level 5 hire cap.

Ubisoft’s wording varies between “rank” in its earlier announcement and “level” in the Hall upgrade notes, so “level 5 (rank 5)” is a clear way to describe the maximum.
