Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The answer depends on which limit you mean. Each individual villager offer has a use cap: in Bedrock Edition’s documented trade-table format, the default is 12 uses before that offer locks. Locked offers refresh when the villager restocks, which Mojang says happens up to two times per day if the villager can work at its workstation. There is no single, cross-edition number of distinct offers a villager can show. That count depends on edition, game version, profession, villager level, and whether the trade table has been customized.
Two different limits
Players often use one phrase for two separate mechanics. Keeping them apart prevents most confusion.
| Question | What it measures | What the sources establish |
|---|---|---|
| How many uses does one offer get? | How many times you can complete a single trade before it locks | Bedrock trade-table default of 12 uses (Microsoft Learn, minecraft:tradesingle reference, accessed 2026) |
| How many distinct offers can a villager show? | How many different trades appear in the villager’s trade window | Not stated as one universal number. Depends on edition, version, profession, and level |
| How often do offers refresh? | When locked offers become usable again | Up to two times per day if the villager can work at its workstation (Mojang, Village & Pillage release announcement) |
Uses per offer before a trade locks
In Microsoft’s Bedrock trade-table reference, max_uses is defined as the maximum number of times a trade can be used before it becomes locked. The documented default is 12. The same reference says the trade refreshes when the villager restocks at a workstation.
This is the most reliable figure in the available sources, but it is specific to Bedrock trade-table definitions. The sources reviewed here do not establish the same default for every Java Edition version, so do not apply the 12-use figure to Java without checking the version you play.

How restocking works
Mojang’s official Minecraft release announcement for Village & Pillage (Java Edition) states:
The villagers will restock up to two times per day (if they can work at their work station!).

- Skins! We have biome settlers, city folk, town folk, and more!
- The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen
- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
- Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen
- Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more
The condition matters more than the number. A villager that cannot reach and use its workstation will not restock on that schedule. Before assuming a villager is exhausted, check these conditions:
- The workstation block still exists and has not been broken or replaced.
- The villager has access to it, meaning nothing blocks the villager from reaching it.
- The villager has a profession tied to that workstation.
- You are comparing against the daily limit, not expecting an instant refresh after every trade.
The sources here do not settle every detail about how the two-restocks-per-day limit is scheduled or how workstation access is evaluated in each edition, so treat those specifics as unverified.

Why there is no single count of distinct offers
A villager’s offer list is not fixed by one global rule. Several factors change what appears:
Edition and version
Java and Bedrock use different trade data structures. The Minecraft Wiki’s Java Edition 1.21.5 page, a secondary source, shows version-specific trade changes and lists multiple possible offers in certain categories. That page supports the need to name a version; it does not provide a maximum for every profession.

Profession and villager level
Offers differ by profession and by level. A count that holds for one profession at one level does not carry over to others. Compare villagers only when they share profession, level, edition, and version.
Custom trade tables
Bedrock’s trade-tier and trade-group references describe groups that select one or more trades from an available set. A configured table can therefore show a different number of offers than the default. Any count taken from a server, add-on, or customized world reflects that configuration, not vanilla behavior.

Checking the offer count in your own world
If you need the number of offers for a specific setup, count it directly rather than relying on a general figure:
- Choose a villager with a known profession and level in the edition and version you play.
- Open its trade window and record every distinct offer listed.
- Repeat with a second villager of the same profession and level to confirm the count is consistent.
- Record the game version, edition, and whether the world or server uses custom data.
A count gathered this way is accurate for that setup only. It should not be presented as the universal maximum.
Prices are a separate question
Mojang’s release notes state that trade prices depend on reputation and demand. Price changes affect how much a trade costs, not how many times an offer can be used or how many offers a villager shows. Keep price behavior out of any capacity calculation.
