That establishes its place in Roblox’s public game history—not that it was the first private prototype or the earliest game-like build made during development.
Why Crossroads is considered Roblox’s oldest game
Roblox’s official Crossroads experience description states: “Crossroads is Roblox’s very first multiplayer game.” Roblox’s The Hunt: Roblox 20 timeline also lists “Classic: Crossroads 2006.” Together, those official sources support calling Crossroads Roblox’s first multiplayer game and the oldest game in the company’s public-facing history covered by that timeline.
A historical recollection on the Crossroads page gives more context. Shedletsky wrote on December 11, 2006: “I joined the Roblox team just as they were rolling out the first multiplayer Roblox level – a very early version of Crossroads.” That wording describes an early multiplayer level, not necessarily the first private prototype of any kind.
What “oldest” means—and what it doesn’t prove
“Oldest Roblox game” can refer to different milestones: an early internal prototype, the first public experience, or the first multiplayer game. Roblox’s Crossroads description supports the multiplayer claim, and the anniversary timeline supplies a 2006 date for the classic. Neither source establishes the date of the first private prototype or rules out every earlier game-like build.

Roblox Support says the company was founded in 2004. That is a company milestone, not a game release date; it does not make a game from 2004 the oldest Roblox game. See Roblox Company Information.
Was Rocket Arena the first Roblox game?
Rocket Arena is an iconic early Brick Battle experience, but Roblox’s anniversary timeline places it in 2008—after Crossroads in 2006. Roblox’s Rocket Arena experience page highlights its focus on the rocket launcher and reproduces a Shedletsky blog excerpt dated January 23, 2007. Those details make it an important early classic, not an older game than Crossroads according to Roblox’s own timeline.
