The shortest explicit Roblox account-suspension example in its Terms of Use is one day. Roblox gives hate speech as an example of conduct that may result in a warning or a suspension for one day or longer. That is an example, not a universal minimum: Roblox says the action and its duration depend on the violation and the user’s history.
What does “banned” mean on Roblox?
Roblox uses different restrictions that players may casually call a ban. An account suspension affects access to the Roblox account or services; a chat mute limits messaging; and a creator-issued experience ban blocks access to one specific experience. The duration and appeal route depend on which action you received.
How long can each Roblox restriction last?
| Restriction | What it affects | Duration information | Where to appeal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roblox account suspension | Access to the account or Roblox services, as described in the moderation notice. | The Terms of Use gives a one-day-or-longer suspension for hate speech as an example. Roblox does not publish a universal duration schedule; outcomes vary with the violation, its severity and impact, and the user’s past behavior. | Chat mute or timeout | Sending messages in chat. | Roblox says chat mutes can begin short and grow longer after repeated violations. Its moderation guidance gives 20 minutes as an example of a timeout that may have expired before an appeal is reviewed; it is not an account-suspension duration. Roblox chat and privacy information | Check the notice for the available route; a short timeout may already have ended. |
| Creator-issued experience ban | Access to one creator’s experience. You can still use other experiences and platform features. | The reviewed Roblox guidance does not set a general minimum duration for these bans. Roblox experience rules and guidelines | Contact the creator. Roblox Support cannot remove a creator-issued ban. Roblox experience rules and guidelines |
Why there is no single ban-length schedule
Roblox says the duration of an enforcement decision and the action taken for a content violation vary. The Terms of Use illustrates that range with hate speech: a warning or suspension for one day or longer may apply, while repeated hate speech may lead to account termination. Other violations can receive different outcomes depending on their circumstances and the account’s history. The one-day example therefore answers what the shortest explicit account-suspension duration is in the cited policy, but it does not guarantee that every suspension starts at one day.
How to appeal an account moderation
- Open the moderation notice. It should identify the action and indicate whether you can appeal through Violations & Appeals or the Support form.
- Submit the appeal as the account owner. Roblox generally requires appeals within 30 days of the moderation action. EU users have six months to appeal an initial moderation action. Roblox moderation appeals
- Explain the specific decision you are challenging. Roblox says a reviewed moderation will not be reviewed again, so avoid filing duplicate appeals after a decision.
An appeal does not guarantee that Roblox will remove the consequence. For a creator’s experience ban based on that experience’s rules, contact the creator instead; Roblox does not handle appeals of those custom rules. Roblox experience rules and guidelines

What to check before deciding what to do
- If the notice blocks the entire Roblox account, treat it as account moderation and follow its appeal instructions.
- If you can use Roblox but cannot send chat messages, check whether the restriction is a mute or timeout.
- If only one experience is inaccessible, it may be a creator-issued ban; contact that experience’s creator.
