Don’t buy a CPU, graphics card, or PC specifically for PS5 emulation on the basis of unvalidated claims.
Why there is no reliable PS5 emulator spec to follow
A useful hardware recommendation needs more than a game booting or appearing in a demo. It needs a publicly available emulator build, repeatable tests of specific games, and reported components and settings tied to stable, playable results. The available project-status reporting does not establish a tested CPU, GPU, memory capacity, target frame rate, or minimum or recommended PC configuration for PS5 emulation.
Tom’s Hardware reported on September 26, 2026 that AnyPS5 had not released a working public build and that KytyPS5 remained experimental and could not reliably maintain playable frame rates. A reported high-frame-rate run of one game amid instability is not a general buying target. The same article described SharpEmu showing Astro’s Playroom at about 0.5 to 1 FPS on a Steam Deck, without progressing beyond the introduction. That is a demonstration of experimental progress, not evidence of playable performance or a desktop PC requirement. Tom’s Hardware’s September 26, 2026 report
These are dated project descriptions, not controlled benchmarks. Project status can change, so check current releases and compatibility information before making a future purchase decision.

Do shadPS4’s requirements apply to PS5 emulation?
No. shadPS4 is a PlayStation 4 emulator, not a PS5 emulator. Its guide lists PS4 emulator minimums of at least four CPU cores and six threads, a clock speed above 2.5 GHz and x86-64-v3 support; a graphics processor with at least 2 GB of VRAM and Vulkan 1.3 support; and 8 GB of RAM. The guide itself cautions: “shadPS4 is still early in development. Many games do not work, and the few that do work usually face various emulation issues.” That warning concerns PS4 emulation only.

What should you buy for PS5 emulation?
There is no evidence-backed CPU, graphics card, RAM or storage target, accessory requirement, or complete PC recommendation for PS5 emulation in the reported project status. In particular, no validated target frame rate or reproducible desktop test supports choosing a particular component. Don’t treat broad PC gaming specs, a PS4 emulator’s requirements, or an official PC game’s requirements as a substitute.
If you want to play a particular game on PC now, first check whether it has an official PC release, then use the requirements for that PC version. What evidence would make a future hardware recommendation useful?
Before buying hardware for this purpose, look for tests that identify the emulator and version, the exact game and its compatibility state, whether it runs stable gameplay rather than only booting or reaching a menu, and the tested PC configuration and settings. Frame rate and resolution need to be reported with the test method; a result without those details cannot establish what another system should deliver.
