There is no confirmed platform list for PHYSINT, and a PlayStation release remains uncertain. Kojima Productions says it is continuing the action-espionage game with Xbox as its current partner after PlayStation stepped away from the collaboration. That change does not, by itself, confirm Xbox exclusivity. Asked whether the game would still come to PlayStation, Hideo Kojima said he did not know and that the question should be directed to Xbox.
Is PHYSINT coming to PS5?
No PS5 version has been confirmed in the cited announcements and interviews. Kojima Productions originally announced PHYSINT in partnership with PlayStation in January 2024, but PlayStation said it was stepping away from the collaboration in September 2026. Kojima Productions said development would continue with Xbox.
In a September 20, 2026 interview with VICE, Kojima was asked whether PHYSINT would still come to PlayStation. He replied, “I don’t know the answer to that—that would be a question for Xbox. But I don’t know for sure.” That leaves a PlayStation release unresolved; it does not establish that one is impossible.
Is PHYSINT an Xbox exclusive?
No Xbox exclusivity has been announced in the cited sources. Kojima Productions identifies Xbox as its current partner, but a development or publishing partnership is not the same as a confirmed list of consumer platforms. Until the companies announce platforms, claims that PHYSINT is either Xbox-exclusive or definitely coming to PlayStation go beyond what is known.

What platforms have actually been confirmed?
The sources reviewed do not name a final consumer platform list. The current confirmed information is about the project’s partnership, not platform availability:
- Confirmed: Kojima Productions says it is continuing PHYSINT with Xbox as its current partner after PlayStation stepped away.
- Not confirmed: An Xbox console version, a PlayStation version, Xbox exclusivity, or a complete platform list.
- Not announced: A release date or release window.
There are not yet confirmed PlayStation and Xbox editions to compare, so performance, compatibility, and console-specific features are also unknown.

What is known about PHYSINT so far?
Development is under way, but key choices remain open
In a September 20, 2026 interview with The Washington Post, Kojima said the project had a written plot and game concept with storyboards. The studio had begun creating 3D models and scanning actors, while Kojima was experimenting with different engines and had not selected one.
It is an action-espionage game about spies
Kojima Productions describes PHYSINT as an action-espionage game. In a Koji10 podcast Q&A, as reported by GamesRadar+ on October 5, 2026, Kojima said: “It’s about spies, but I want plenty of new ideas and a different kind of spy action. It’s quite different.” The public information cited here does not provide a detailed story synopsis or a full gameplay presentation. The spy-action premise does not make PHYSINT a Metal Gear game.

Bill Skarsgård is the announced lead
Kojima Productions named Bill Skarsgård as the lead role in its September 2026 announcement. The studio said costume fittings, scans, and camera tests with Skarsgård and Charlee Fraser had taken place earlier that year. Its 2025 anniversary-event recap also identified Charlee Fraser, Ma Dong-Seok, and Minami Hamabe among the cast; the later announcement refers to Ma Dong-Seok by his professional name, Don Lee.

A definitive answer will require Kojima Productions, Xbox, or another rights holder to name the platforms. For now, separate those future possibilities from the confirmed facts: Xbox is the current partner, PlayStation has stepped away, and Kojima has not confirmed whether a PlayStation release will happen.
