The bathhouse—called the Spa in Stardew Valley—restores your health and energy while you stand still in its pool. It is in the Railroad area, which opens after the earthquake on Summer 3, Year 1.
What does the bathhouse do?
The Spa gradually restores both health and energy while your character is in the water and stationary. The Stardew Valley Wiki lists the recovery rate as 10 points per second. Moving interrupts the effect, so stay still until you have recovered what you need.

Where is the Spa, and how do you get there?
The Spa is in the southwest part of the Railroad area. The Railroad path becomes accessible after the earthquake on Summer 3, Year 1 clears the way. The Spa is listed as open all day and never closed.
How to use the pool
- Travel to the Railroad and enter the Spa building.
- Walk through the changing room and along the covered passage to reach the pool. Your character changes into a swimsuit on the way.
- Enter the water and remain stationary while your health and energy recover.
Why is energy not going up?
- Check your location: You need to be in the pool, not merely inside the building or changing area.
- Stop moving: Movement interrupts the recovery effect. Stand still in the water.
- Account for buffs: The Spa page’s version history records a fix in version 1.6.9 for an energy-regeneration limitation when a player has an active Max Energy buff. If regeneration seems inconsistent, check the current version and your active effects.
When is the Spa a useful recovery option?
The Spa is free, but using it means traveling to the Railroad and spending time standing still. Food can be more convenient if you already have it with you. Sleeping also restores health and energy, with the amount affected by bedtime and exhaustion conditions.

Multiplayer note
The Energy page describes standing in bed in multiplayer as another way to gradually restore health and energy without ending the day. Its rate differs from the Spa’s; this is a multiplayer-specific alternative, not a general replacement for the Spa mechanic.
