A federal court permanently barred Benjamin Robert Simon, the YouTuber known online as Ruben Sim, from accessing Roblox except for public portions of the website that do not require an account. The court also imposed limits on specified statements and conduct and entered a $150,000 judgment for Roblox. The case ended through a stipulated judgment—not a trial verdict.
What does “stay off Roblox” mean?
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California permanently restrained Simon from accessing the Roblox Platform, except for public portions of the website that require no account. The order therefore does not bar every visit to Roblox.com; it bars access beyond those account-free public portions. The restriction appears in the court-approved Stipulated Order for Injunction, Monetary Relief, and Final Judgment.
The docket identifies the defendant as Benjamin Robert Simon, also known as Ruben Sim. A proposed stipulated order was filed on January 14, 2022, and Magistrate Judge Kandis A. Westmore granted the stipulation on January 20, 2022. Those are different dates: the first is the filing date, the second the court’s approval date. The docket entry was listed as last retrieved on January 21, 2022, so it does not establish whether later enforcement or modification proceedings occurred.
What other conduct does the order prohibit?
The injunction permanently restrains Simon from the following actions:

- Glamorizing or encouraging violence against Roblox, its employees, or its facilities.
- Violating Roblox’s terms in connection with using the platform or with content and data obtained from it.
- Knowingly approaching within 100 feet of a Roblox office, facility, or residence.
- Publicly displaying material that encourages or glamorizes unauthorized access to the platform or conduct that violates Roblox’s terms.
These are restrictions in the judgment, not a general statement that all criticism of Roblox or all contact with its offices is prohibited. The order identifies the specific conduct it bars.
Removal and cooperation requirements
Simon was required to remove, within seven days, material he authored that violated the injunction. He then had to provide Roblox a compliance report under penalty of perjury within ten days. The order also requires him to cooperate, within his rights and abilities, in seeking removal of third-party copies of material that would violate the order if he published it.

How much was the judgment?
The court entered a $150,000 judgment in favor of Roblox and against Simon. The order establishes the amount of the judgment; it does not specify a payment method or schedule. The judgment states that “a judgment in the amount of $150,000 is entered in favor of Plaintiff Roblox and against Defendant.”

No. The parties stipulated to entry of the judgment to resolve all matters in dispute. Simon waived rights to appeal or otherwise contest it, and the parties agreed to bear their own costs and attorney fees. The docket records the court’s approval of that stipulation on January 20, 2022. The stipulation is the basis for the resolution.

Roblox’s November 23, 2021 complaint asserted claims including violations of the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, California’s Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act, breach of contract, fraud, and tortious interference. Those were allegations in Roblox’s filing, not findings by a jury that each allegation was true. The operative restrictions and monetary judgment discussed here are the terms of the final stipulated order. The complaint is a party filing.
