EpicDB exposed unpublished Epic Games Store catalog records in June 2024, including entries under codenames that reporters linked to possible games. Those records were clues, not announcements: they did not establish that every project was real, active, or scheduled for release.
What was the EpicDB leak?
EpicDB was a third-party database that displayed records from the Epic Games Store catalog. On June 12, 2024, PC Gamer reported that searches by publisher were returning unpublished product listings alongside released games. Some records used codenames, prompting readers and journalists to compare associated metadata—such as item names and save-folder paths—with known games. PC Gamer’s contemporaneous report and Gematsu’s report documented examples and cautions.

A catalog entry is not the same thing as a confirmed game. It does not by itself prove that a project was finished, authorized for release, still in development, or planned for a particular date.
Which games were linked to the records?
Gematsu described several proposed identifications based on clues in the records. These were journalistic inferences, not announcements from the publishers.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms

| Codename | Reported possible identity | Clue reported at the time | Official confirmation from the leak |
|---|---|---|---|
| Momo | Final Fantasy IX Remake | Related items included a “Thief’s Knives” preorder bonus and a “Tetra Master Starter Pack” early-purchase bonus. | No. The connection was Gematsu’s inference from catalog metadata. |
| Utah | The Last of Us Part II Remastered | The cloud-save folder named the game. | No. The connection was reported from the record’s save-folder clue. |
| Skobeloff | Final Fantasy XVI | A save-folder path appeared connected to the game. | No. The record was a clue, not a publisher announcement. |
These examples illustrate why metadata attracted attention, but they should not be read as a complete or verified list of leaked games. The reports did not establish a reliable total, and they did not assign a systematic confidence score to each identification.
Were the rumored games confirmed?
No. The EpicDB listings did not confirm the rumored titles. A descriptive folder path or a set of matching item names can make an identification plausible, but it does not establish who created the record, whether it was current, or whether a project would be released. Gematsu noted that some listings were hard to identify, some had not been updated for years, and some might have been test products or abandoned projects. PC Gamer also flagged entries it considered unreliable, including a conspicuously implausible group associated with an “unknown organization.”

So the careful distinction is: the database contained records; journalists proposed identities for some of them; the leak itself did not amount to official confirmation.
What did Epic say, and what changed?
In a statement quoted by PC Gamer on June 12, 2024, Epic said: “We released an update so third-party tools can’t surface any new unpublished product titles from the Epic Games Store catalog.” That describes a change intended to block third-party discovery of new unpublished product titles. It neither confirms nor denies any particular project identified in the coverage.

A GamesRadar+ article published July 2, 2026 later referred back to Epic’s response while covering separate database listings. That retrospective mention is context, not an independent verification of the 2024 codenames or an audit of EpicDB’s current technical status.
Why were the listings under codenames?
The records were unpublished catalog entries, and some appeared under internal-looking names rather than public game titles. Reporters used associated metadata to suggest possible matches. The available reporting does not establish why each codename was chosen, who entered it, or whether every record represented a planned release. Treating a codename as proof of a hidden game would go beyond what the records show.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

What can readers conclude now?
The June 2024 reporting documents a real visibility issue: third-party tools could surface unpublished Epic Games Store product records, and Epic said it updated the store to prevent new unpublished titles from being surfaced that way. It also documents plausible clues and questionable or ambiguous entries. The reports do not establish what ultimately happened to each alleged project, and the 2026 retrospective does not supply a present-day audit of EpicDB.
