Vantage Studios is a Ubisoft subsidiary built around Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Tencent holds a minority stake in it, bought for €1.16 billion, and Ubisoft keeps majority ownership and control. For players, the stated benefits are more developer autonomy and a shorter route from player feedback to changes in the games. Those are goals Ubisoft has set out, and its announcements do not yet show that the deal has changed any specific game’s price, release date, monetization, or quality.
What Vantage Studios is
Ubisoft announced in March 2025 that it would create a dedicated subsidiary for three franchises, and on October 1, 2025 it named the subsidiary Vantage Studios. Vantage is responsible for developing and expanding Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Grouping the three franchises under one subsidiary is an organizational change: it sets up a separate corporate unit with its own investor and its own development teams, but it does not by itself create new games or change existing ones.
Ubisoft listed Vantage’s teams in Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia at launch.
Who owns what
The most common misreading is that Tencent controls Ubisoft’s franchises. Ubisoft’s own announcements say otherwise. Tencent is a minority shareholder in Vantage, and Ubisoft kept majority ownership and control.

What Ubisoft says will change for players
Ubisoft’s stated goals are the part of this story that touches players most directly. They describe intentions, not results.

- Nintendo Switch system: use motion controls with the Joy-Con Controllers to cast (classic controls also available)
More direct developer control
At launch, Ubisoft described Vantage as sharing Ubisoft services and technical resources while giving developers more direct control over their games. For players, this is the claim with the most practical weight: if it holds, decisions about a game’s direction would sit closer to the team making it. Ubisoft has not published measures showing how much control moved, or how it would be visible in a game.
A shorter path from feedback to changes
Ubisoft also said the structure should shorten the path between collecting player feedback and acting on it. That is a process promise. Whether it produces faster patches, better features, or fewer unpopular decisions can only be judged game by game, over time, and no published figures yet measure it.

- Wield the powers of the gods like Achilles' sword and Daidalos' wings to battle powerful enemies and solve ancient puzzles.
- Fight iconic mythological beasts like Cyclops and Medusa in dynamic combat in the air and on the ground.
- Use your skills and diverse weapons, including self-guided arrows, telekinesis, and more, for devastating damage.
- Discover a stylized open world across seven unique regions, each inspired by the gods.
A broader studio footprint
Vantage’s teams span Canada and Europe. That gives the subsidiary studios in several time zones and creative centers, which may matter for how the three franchises are supported. Ubisoft has not tied any specific studio to any specific release.
What the announcements do not show
- Price, release timing, and monetization. Nothing published links the Tencent investment to a change in any game’s price, release date, or monetization model.
- Quality. Ubisoft’s goals about “memorable games” and players’ expectations are aspirations. No published statistic measures player outcomes from the deal.
- Tencent control over the franchises. A minority stake and majority ownership by Ubisoft are different things, and the deal documents as announced place control with Ubisoft.
- Specific games. The January 2026 reset revised the group’s roadmap and organized Ubisoft around five Creative Houses. Ubisoft’s later quarterly release, covering fiscal 2025–26, still identifies Vantage with the three franchises and lists its studios. It does not promise particular titles or dates in the sources reviewed.
Official language, read carefully
Ubisoft’s March 2025 announcement said it saw “the immense potential for these franchises to evolve into long-term evergreen game platforms and create engaging new experiences for gamers.” That is Ubisoft’s view of potential, not a commitment.

- Internet connection, Ubisoft Account, PlayStationNetwork account, and PlayStationPlus subscription (sold separately) required to access online multiplayer/features.
In the same announcement, CEO Yves Guillemot described “a sharper, more focused organization” in which talented teams would take the brands forward and deliver games that “exceed players’ expectations.” These are corporate aspirations, and they are worth quoting as aspirations.
At closing on November 21, 2025, Guillemot said he was “very pleased to announce the closing of our strategic partnership with Tencent, which now becomes a minority shareholder in our new subsidiary, Vantage Studios.” That is the most precise ownership statement available.

How to check future claims about Vantage
- Start with Ubisoft’s own news and investor releases. Deal terms, ownership, and team lists come from there.
- Separate ownership from control. A minority investor is not the same as a controlling owner.
- For any claim about a specific game, look for a dated statement from Ubisoft or the game’s publisher that names that title. A general statement about the subsidiary does not establish a change to a particular game.
- Re-check the group roadmap before accepting a date. The January 2026 reset already changed how Ubisoft organizes its portfolio.
For gamers, the deal is a change of corporate structure with stated goals about developer control and feedback. Its effect on individual games has not been demonstrated yet, and it should be judged on what Vantage releases and how it supports them over time.
