1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBefore choosing a college fantasy quarterback, check your league’s scoring and lineup deadline, confirm the player’s role and availability, then compare his passing and rushing opportunities with the matchup and expected game environment. No one factor guarantees a good result; the useful choice is the one supported by the strongest evidence for your league and this week’s game.
1. Start with your league’s scoring and lineup rules
Two quarterbacks with similar real-game production can have different fantasy value if your league scores passing, rushing, or turnovers differently. Check the settings in your own league before comparing players, including roster eligibility and when lineups lock.
- Points for passing touchdowns and passing yards.
- Penalties for interceptions and lost fumbles.
- Points for rushing yards and touchdowns, plus any receiving production your league counts.
- Whether both players are eligible at quarterback under your roster rules.
- The applicable game dates and the lineup lock time for each player.
For one example of how settings can be presented, College Football Fantasy’s rules page lists four points per passing touchdown, one point per 25 passing yards, and a one-point deduction for an interception or lost fumble; it also counts rushing and receiving production. Those are that ruleset’s values, not a universal standard. CBS Sports’ examples illustrate that platform rules can also differ, including an FBS-versus-non-FBS adjustment and a player-team kickoff deadline. Check your own league’s current settings rather than importing either example. College Football Fantasy rules · CBS Sports college fantasy rules
2. Confirm the player will play—and understand his role
Check for a confirmed starter, any competition or rotation, recent snaps, and late availability news. A depth-chart listing is a useful clue, but it does not by itself establish that a player will have a full-game role or a predictable workload. Yahoo notes that future-week players in its college fantasy points-against tool are based on depth charts, so treat that information as context rather than confirmation of playing time. Availability-report rules have a defined scope. For CFP games in the 2025–26 season, the CFP policy requires participating schools to provide public reports, updated daily with a final report 90 minutes before game time. That policy should not be assumed to apply to every regular-season game. 2025–26 CFP Student-Athlete Availability Reporting
3. Compare opportunity, not just last week’s fantasy points
A previous fantasy score records what happened; it does not necessarily tell you how repeatable the opportunity is. Compare recent passing attempts and production with rushing volume, including designed runs and scrambles, and any receiving involvement that your league rewards. A quarterback who adds rushing production may have a different scoring profile from a pocket passer, especially in a league that awards rushing yards or touchdowns.

CollegeFFB says its projection model considers usage such as rushing volume and receiving involvement because similar box-score yardage can come from different underlying opportunities. Use those inputs to understand what might support a player’s output, not as a guarantee of future production. CollegeFFB’s explanation of rankings and projections
4. Put the opponent matchup in context
Opponent performance against quarterbacks can help distinguish two candidates, but a raw points-against rank is not a verdict. Check what that data covers, consider opponent strength, and compare it with the quarterback’s current role and opportunity. Yahoo offers position-specific college fantasy points-against data; CollegeFFB describes adjusting player baselines for opponent strength and expected game environment. These are context for a decision, not proof that a player will repeat a particular score. Yahoo QB points-against data · CollegeFFB projection methodology

5. Consider the likely game environment
Think through whether the quarterback’s team is expected to score and whether the game could become one-sided. A likely script can affect chances to pass or run: for example, a team playing from behind might need to throw more, while a lead could change the balance of its offense. CollegeFFB describes using game totals and spreads as signals for expected scoring environment and likely script. Those market-based estimates can inform a comparison, but they are not certainties and should not outweigh evidence about who will play and how that player is being used. How CollegeFFB incorporates game environment
6. Compare two candidates on the same checklist
When you have a start/sit choice, assess both players using the same factors. That keeps a favorable matchup from overshadowing a role concern for one player—or a rushing advantage for the other.

If a projection source provides comparative estimates or ranges, use them to frame relative outcomes rather than treating one number as a promised score. CollegeFFB describes its projections as estimates based on information available at the time and says they are more useful comparatively than as exact-point predictions. Its stated projection context is 137 FBS teams; that is the service’s description, not an independently verified count of all FBS schools. CollegeFFB rankings and projection methodology

Role and availability news can change during the week, and the lineup deadline may be tied to the player’s team kickoff. Recheck the starter, injury or availability information, opponent context, and the lock time before committing. CollegeFFB says its rankings update during the week as injuries and other information change; any projection reflects what is known when it is made, not an exact score.
