Then go to One Island and talk to Celio: his Ruby-and-Sapphire quest opens the rest of the Sevii Islands, and completing it unlocks Cerulean Cave, Mewtwo, and the stronger Elite Four rematch.
Get the National Pokédex
Oak’s postgame Pokédex requires you to have caught 60 different Kanto Pokémon species. Once you meet that threshold, speak with Professor Oak to receive the National Pokédex. The count is for distinct species caught, not simply seen; check your Pokédex and catch additional species if you are short.
Start Celio’s quest on One Island
Travel to One Island and speak with Celio. He asks you to find the Ruby at Mt. Ember. Return the Ruby to him to receive the Rainbow Pass, which grants access to Four, Five, Six, and Seven Islands.
Continue the Ruby-and-Sapphire quest
With the other islands open, follow Celio’s remaining objectives to find the Sapphire and restore the Network Machine. This is the central postgame storyline, and it advances the machine used for trading connectivity with Hoenn games. If you completed some of the One Island Sevii Islands content before the League, resume from your current quest progress rather than repeating it.

Check your version for ticket encounters
Special-ticket content is not consistent across every release. A March 2026 gaming feature reported that the Switch and Switch 2 versions include Mystic Ticket and Aurora Ticket content, enabling encounters at Navel Rock and Birth Island. That is secondary reporting, so check the specific release you are playing before following GBA-era event instructions.
