What to do first in lane
Use Wave of Terror for two jobs at once
Look for chances to cast Wave of Terror where it can help secure a ranged creep while also pressuring an opponent. That gives the spell a useful lane outcome instead of spending it without a clear purpose. The August 2024 support guide also recommends using its vision to scout likely ward locations and the Roshan pit.
Treat scouting as information, not protection
Use the vision to inform where you move or what your team checks next; revealing an area does not by itself make entering it safe. A cast can serve lane pressure or scouting, so choose based on what your team needs at that moment.
How to use Nether Swap in a fight
Nether Swap has two distinct jobs: rescuing an ally in danger or displacing an out-of-position enemy so your team can act. Choose between them by asking which outcome is more likely to improve the fight.

The guide specifically cautions against swapping an ally into a bad position. A speculative catch is not worth sacrificing a teammate’s safety if the rest of the team cannot capitalize.
A practical spell sequence
The 2024 guide suggests Wave of Terror → Nether Swap → Magic Missile. Treat this as an opportunity-dependent sequence, not a rule: use it when the target, your position, and your team’s ability to follow up make the swap worthwhile. If those conditions are absent, hold Nether Swap for a better catch or a save.

What kind of hero is Vengeful Spirit?
For this advice, the useful framing is utility support: contribute through lane pressure, scouting, catches, and saves rather than treating every fight as an invitation to initiate. Valve’s official Vengeful Spirit page presents her as a Dota 2 hero and includes lore—not a current gameplay guide. Its bio says, “She may spend eternity flightless, but she will have her revenge.”
