Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFirst check whether the game’s release date changed, your physical order has not shipped, or an eShop preload simply is not playable yet. The next step depends on the country, seller, and format: check the official release date and your order status, then use that seller’s current cancellation or delay process.
Start by identifying what is delayed
- Check the game’s current release date on its official Nintendo eShop or Nintendo Store listing, or the publisher’s official announcement.
- Open the order confirmation and the seller’s latest notice. Note the seller, country, whether the order is digital or physical, the promised date, and whether payment has been taken.
- Check whether the notice gives a revised date and explains how to accept the delay or cancel. Keep the confirmation and delay notice.
A changed game release date is not the same situation as a physical package that missed its shipping window. And an eShop preload that will not launch before release may be working as intended.

If your Nintendo eShop preorder is delayed
Nintendo of America’s support terms allow cancellation of a digital preorder only before payment is processed, at least seven days before release. Nintendo says payment is collected no sooner than seven days before release; a preorder may be canceled before payment processing and preload. If payment fails, the preorder is canceled. These are Nintendo’s US support terms, not a statement of consumer rights in every country. Nintendo’s US cancellation instructions and preorder FAQ explain the process.
Check the preorder in the Nintendo Account associated with the purchase and use the available cancellation option before the cutoff. If the normal self-service option is unavailable, contact Nintendo Support. Nintendo UK separately describes a voluntary cancellation right for digital preorders made seven or more days before release, while noting that statutory cancellation rights are unaffected. That UK guidance does not establish the rules for other countries. See Nintendo UK’s cancellation terms.

Nintendo Store order in the United States
Nintendo of America says Nintendo Store physical pre-purchases are charged immediately and ship one to three business days after release. To cancel one, contact Nintendo Support; this is different from the eShop preorder cancellation process. Nintendo’s purchase and shipping guidance covers these terms.
Order from another retailer
Check that retailer’s order page and current terms for the revised shipping date, cancellation method, refund method, and timing. Do not assume Nintendo Store’s process applies to an order placed elsewhere.

For US online merchandise orders, the FTC says sellers generally must ship within the promised period or within 30 days if no shipping time was promised. If a seller cannot ship on time, it must notify the buyer and offer the choice to accept the delay or cancel for a full refund. The FTC’s consumer guidance puts it this way: “If there’s a delay shipping your order, the seller has to tell you and give you the choice of either agreeing to the delay or canceling your order for a full refund.” See the FTC consumer guidance and its business guide to the rule. This guidance concerns delayed shipment of merchandise in the United States; it does not settle every question about a publisher changing a game’s software release date or describe rights outside the US.
If a preloaded game will not start
An eShop icon or preload does not necessarily mean the game is playable before release. Nintendo says a non-playable version may appear on the HOME Menu before release, with play beginning after the release-time update. Check the release date in the eShop or Nintendo Store listing before treating this as a delay. Some third-party games may unlock at a different stated time, so check the listing for the exact title. Nintendo’s guidance for games that will not play explains this state.

Decide whether to wait or cancel
Before accepting a delay, compare the seller’s confirmed revised date with your cancellation eligibility and whether payment has already been taken. If you cancel, confirm how and when the refund will be issued. If considering another listing, verify it is the exact game and Nintendo Switch 2 edition, and confirm its availability date and seller policy before ordering. The applicable process depends on the country, seller, and whether the order is digital or physical.
