Start with the store or marketplace that accepted your order. Keep the cards, sealed product, packaging, order record and delivery details together, then report the exact problem through that seller’s official order or support page. The remedy and deadline depend on whether you bought from Pokémon Center US, a marketplace such as TCGplayer, or another retailer; there is no single Pokémon-card return rule.
First determine whether the package is missing, an item is missing from a delivered order, the contents were damaged in transit, the card differs from its listing, or the damage may be a factory printing or packaging error. That classification determines whether you should seek a refund, reshipment, ordinary return, or a limited manufacturing-error replacement.

Do these things before contacting the seller
- Keep everything together. Do not throw away the mailer, box, wrapping, sleeves, booster packaging, packing slip or the card itself. Separate the item from other orders only if doing so prevents further damage.
- Record the transaction. Save the order number, listing or product name, seller name, purchase date, delivery date, tracking status and the condition or quantity promised in the listing.
- Document what arrived. Take clear photographs or scans of the card or sealed product, the shipping container and any visible damage. This is useful evidence and helps you describe the issue accurately, but do not assume every platform may require photographs as a condition of receiving help. TCGplayer’s published policy says a seller may not require images as a prerequisite for resolving certain marketplace issues, while Pokémon Support expressly asks for front-and-back scans for its manufacturing-error route.
- Do not alter the item. Avoid cleaning, trimming, opening additional sealed products, removing labels or attempting a repair. A change can make it harder to establish what happened and may affect a return decision.
- Use the original transaction channel. Start from the order page or the retailer’s support page rather than a social-media message or an unrelated general inbox. Keep copies of your messages and any return or tracking number.
These steps preserve your options. A platform may have its own evidence and return instructions, so follow those instructions instead of mailing a card to an address found elsewhere.

The package never arrived
Open the original order page and check the estimated delivery date, tracking events, delivery photograph and address. A tracking scan does not by itself explain every missing-order situation; the seller or marketplace must apply its own procedure. Contact the seller through the transaction page and describe the delivery status plainly. On TCGplayer, the covered missing-order route requires contacting the seller within 30 calendar days after the estimated delivery date.

One item is missing from a Pokémon Center US order
Before reporting a missing item, check whether the order was partially cancelled or split into multiple shipments. A cancellation notice or a second tracking number can explain why a box contains fewer items than the original confirmation. If neither explains the shortage, contact Pokémon Center through its support process and identify the missing product and the contents of the package you received.
The shipping box is scuffed, but the card is fine
Distinguish damage to the outer carton, mailer or protective sleeve from damage to the actual card or product. Pokémon Center’s policy treats outer packaging as protection that can show shipping wear. For a final-sale item, damage limited to the outer wrap may not support a refund. If the card, sealed product or included component is damaged, describe that damage separately and include photographs.
The card is damaged
Look for bends, dents, creases, whitening, water exposure, tears, crushed corners, seal damage or other changes that were not disclosed. Keep the item in the condition in which it arrived. A card damaged during shipping is a retailer or marketplace issue; a defect that appears to have originated during printing or factory packaging follows a different route.

Compare the received card with the listing, not with a general expectation of what a card should look like. Note the exact discrepancy: wrong set or card number, wrong language, incorrect quantity, a missing card, a condition grade that does not match the listing, or an undisclosed alteration. For a marketplace transaction, contact the seller from the order record and quote the relevant listing details.

You suspect a counterfeit
Do not send the card back on your own or accuse the seller in a public post before using the marketplace’s formal process. TCGplayer directs buyers with a suspected counterfeit to its dedicated customer-service route within the same 30-day window used for covered missing or not-as-described issues. Preserve the card, packaging and transaction history while the platform gives instructions.
You suspect a manufacturing or printing error
A manufacturing error is different from a crease caused by transit, a card damaged after delivery, or a seller sending the wrong item. Examples can include a printing, cutting or factory-packaging problem that was present when the card was made. Pokémon Support has a limited replacement route for those issues; it does not promise that every damaged card qualifies.
Pokémon Center US: damaged, defective or missing items
Refunds for qualifying damaged or defective products
Pokémon Center US says qualifying damaged or defective non-final-sale items may be returned for a refund within 30 days of delivery. The clock is tied to the date the order was delivered, not the date you first noticed the problem. Pokémon Center currently does not offer exchanges through this policy, so ask for the applicable return and refund process rather than an exchange.

The policy distinguishes the product from its outer packaging. Shipping wear to a protective box or wrap may be treated differently from damage to the contents. A final-sale item cannot be returned for a refund solely because its outer packaging is scuffed. Explain whether the card or product itself is affected, and whether the damage was visible before opening.

Fragile materials and accidental damage
If the item contains fragile material, contact Pokémon Center support before beginning a return so you receive the appropriate handling instructions. Pokémon Center also says accidental damage caused by the buyer is not repairable or replaceable by Pokémon Center. Do not describe handling damage as a shipping or manufacturing defect; state when and how you first observed it.
How to start a return
Use the Pokémon Center return-help process to initiate and track an eligible return. Guests can look up an order with the order ID and shipping postal code. Keep the return authorization and tracking details until the refund is complete. If the item is missing rather than damaged, first verify the partial-cancellation and split-shipment possibilities, then contact support if the order still cannot be reconciled.
Pokémon Support: a limited manufacturing-error path
Pokémon Support recommends trying to return the purchase to the retailer when cards are damaged for any reason other than a manufacturing error. Its separate route covers a limited number of replacements for manufacturing, printing and packaging issues; it is not a general damage-insurance program and replacement is not guaranteed.

TCGplayer: missing or not-as-described orders
Contact the seller from Order History
For a TCGplayer order that is missing or not as described, open Order History and use the Contact Seller route. The stated deadline is 30 calendar days after the estimated delivery date. This trigger differs from Pokémon Center’s 30 days from actual delivery, so record the date shown in the marketplace order page.
Possible outcomes
Depending on the facts and the card’s availability, the process can result in a reshipment, a refund, or a return with prepaid shipping. A missing single may be reshipped when the seller has another copy; if it is unavailable, the policy describes a refund. For a condition mismatch, explain the advertised condition and the specific defect or wear that differs from it. Do not send the card back until the seller or platform provides the approved return procedure.
Seller response and escalation
In the covered singles workflow, the seller has two business days to respond. If the seller does not respond within the required period, or you and the seller cannot agree on a resolution, escalate through TCGplayer customer service or its support chatbot. Include the order history, your original message, the seller’s response if any, photographs or scans where useful, and your requested outcome. Follow any prepaid-label or return authorization instructions exactly.

For purchases from another retailer or marketplace, consult that company’s current help and return pages. Do not apply Pokémon Center or TCGplayer deadlines to a different seller.

Write a message that gets to the point
A first message should give the support agent enough information to identify the transaction without making them reconstruct the problem. Include:
- Order number and seller or store name.
- Delivery date, or the estimated delivery date shown by the marketplace.
- Product name, card name and number, language, quantity, or listing title.
- The precise problem: missing package, missing item, transit damage, condition mismatch, wrong card, or suspected factory error.
- What the listing promised and what you received.
- Your requested outcome: refund, reshipment, replacement review, or return instructions.
- A short list of attached photographs or scans, if appropriate.
For example:
Order 12345 was delivered on March 8. The listing was for one near-mint English card, but the card received has a crease across the lower-right corner that was not shown in the listing photographs. I have kept the card and packaging. Please advise whether you can provide a refund, an approved return label, or another resolution under your policy.
Keep the wording factual. Avoid guessing whether a mark is a factory defect unless you are asking for an assessment, and do not claim that a platform requires evidence it has not requested. If the platform asks you to return the card, use its label, address and authorization, and retain the tracking receipt.

- Check the stated response window. TCGplayer’s covered singles workflow gives the seller two business days. Other stores may use different periods.
- Send one concise follow-up. Restate the order number, the unresolved issue and the remedy you are requesting. Attach the original conversation rather than starting an unrelated ticket.
- Escalate through the official platform route. Use TCGplayer customer service or chatbot when the seller has not replied in time or no agreement is reached. For Pokémon Center, continue through its order-support or return-help process.
- Keep the item available. Do not discard, alter or independently ship the card while an escalation is open.
- Close the loop. Save the refund confirmation, replacement decision, return tracking and any final case number.
The fastest resolution usually comes from identifying the correct channel, stating one verifiable problem and asking for one practical outcome. A missing shipment, a damaged sealed product, a listing mismatch and a printing error may look similar to a buyer, but they are handled by different policies and, in some cases, different organizations.
