If V-Bucks are missing after a purchase, restart Fortnite, verify you are on the Epic account and platform used to buy them, then check Epic’s Transaction History. Missing V-Bucks after returning a cosmetic follow a different path: check the refund destination and refresh your balance. If owned items disappeared after a refund or payment reversal, Epic says Player Support cannot restore them; contact the payment provider if you believe the removal was mistaken.
V-Bucks missing after a purchase
Work through these checks before buying again. An ordinary V-Bucks purchase is credited through the platform where you made it; it is not a redemption code or a gift that can be transferred to another account.

- Restart Fortnite. This can refresh the balance shown in the game.
- Check the account and platform. Confirm the in-game profile is linked to the Epic Games account you used and sign in on the same platform where the purchase was made. Epic says V-Bucks are added when you sign in on that platform. Epic also says, “V-Bucks purchases do not include redemption codes and cannot be gifted to other accounts.”
- Check platform wallet behavior. V-Bucks do not necessarily display identically across platforms. Epic’s Shared Wallet guidance says V-Bucks added or redeemed on a non-Nintendo device will not appear on a Nintendo device. Check the balance on the platform where the purchase or redemption occurred.
- Check Epic Transaction History. If the transaction is absent, Epic says it did not go through. Check with your bank or payment provider before attempting the purchase again. If the transaction is listed, contact the seller that processed it.
- Use the right support channel. For purchases made through PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo, contact that platform’s support; Epic says it cannot investigate or refund purchases made through those stores. For an Epic Games Store purchase, submit an Epic support request with the order number, V-Bucks quantity, and platform you use to play.
- If you bought a V-Bucks card, redeem its code. Card purchases do not credit the account until the code is redeemed.

V-Bucks missing after returning a cosmetic
A returned item is not the same as a purchase that never credited. Epic says returned V-Bucks usually appear within a few minutes. Refresh the V-Bucks balance in the Item Shop, confirm you are signed in to the Epic account where the return was processed, check the In-Game Currency balance, and restart Fortnite. If the original purchase used a platform balance, such as Nintendo’s, the refund may return to that balance rather than the Shared Wallet.

Cosmetics or V-Bucks removed after a refund or payment reversal
Epic says a refund or payment reversal, including a chargeback, can lead to the related items being removed. A gift sender can also reverse the V-Bucks spent on a gift, which can remove the gifted item. This is different from a cosmetic return you initiated and are waiting to receive V-Bucks for.

Epic’s support page states: “Epic Games Player Support cannot restore these items.” If you believe a removal was mistaken, Epic recommends asking the payment provider for information. The described policy also says that when a reversal exceeds the account’s available V-Bucks, recent Item Shop purchases up to 90 days old and recent gifts may be reversed; if those do not cover the amount, the account may show a negative V-Bucks balance. These are policy mechanics, not a diagnosis of why a particular account changed.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

If you meant to undo a purchase
Recovery of missing content and cancellation of a purchase are separate. Epic’s current Item Shop rules provide two routes for eligible purchases:
- Cancel Purchase: Within 24 hours of an eligible Item Shop purchase made with V-Bucks, you can cancel if you have not used or equipped the item. The item is removed and the V-Bucks are returned; each item can be cancelled only once.
- Return Ticket: Eligible Item Shop purchases made within the previous 30 days may be returned with a ticket. An account starts with three tickets, gains one every 365 days, and can hold no more than three. Returning a bundle means returning the whole bundle.
Passes, pass levels, Premium Reward Track, gifted purchases, Level Up Quest Packs, Save the World loot llamas and event or weekly items, and developer-made island purchases are among the exclusions. Battle Pass rewards are earned through play and are not refundable as purchased items. For real-money purchases through a third-party store, use that store’s refund process; Epic says it cannot process those refunds.

Choose the support route by where the transaction happened
| Situation | Next step |
|---|---|
| Transaction is not in Epic Transaction History | Epic says it did not go through; check with your bank or payment provider before trying again. |
| Purchase made through PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo | Contact the platform store’s support. |
| Purchase made through Epic Games Store | Submit an Epic support request with the order number, V-Bucks quantity, and play platform. |
| Item removed after a refund or payment reversal | Ask the payment provider for information if you think the removal was an error; Epic says Player Support cannot restore the affected items. |
Purchase and refund handling depends on the original seller and platform. Use the support route for the store that processed the transaction.
