Error 0x80830003 is identified by SEGA as a saved-data-space error. First, let the game sync while the console is online; then, if needed, remove the affected game’s local save rather than choosing an option that deletes cloud data.
What the error means
The message concerns saved data, which is separate from the storage used to install games. Xbox’s storage management guidance and SEGA’s troubleshooting for error 0x80830003 address different issues: having too little room for game installations is not the same diagnosis as being unable to save.
The available support information does not establish a universal save-data quota, or show that a USB drive or expansion card increases saved-data capacity. Xbox’s Storage Expansion Card guidance concerns console storage, not a verified fix for this error.
Choose the least risky cleanup option
Before deleting anything, connect the console to the internet, open the affected game, and give it time to synchronize. Xbox’s cloud game saves FAQ covers cloud saves, but game-by-game syncing and recovery are not guaranteed. Read the wording on every confirmation prompt: removing a console copy is different from deleting a cloud copy.

| Option | Scope | When to use it | Important caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delete from Console for one game | The selected profile’s local save data for that title | Start here if the error occurs in one game | Confirm that you are removing the console copy, not choosing a cloud-delete option. |
| Clear local saved games | Local saved games more broadly | Consider only if the targeted step does not resolve the issue | Allow online synchronization first and check the confirmation prompts carefully. |
| Manage saves inside the game | Only the selected game’s retained save files | Use if that game’s publisher recommends it and the game provides save-management controls | Controls and recommendations vary by game; SEGA’s advice is specific to its supported title context. |
Delete the affected game’s local save
- Open My games & apps and highlight the affected game.
- Choose Manage game & add-ons, then Saved data.
- Select your profile and choose Delete from Console. SEGA lists this route for removing the local copy for a title.
- Reconnect or remain connected to the internet, reopen the game, and allow any available synchronization to finish before checking whether saving works.
Do not select a prompt that says it will delete data everywhere or from the cloud unless you intend to remove that cloud copy. If you are unsure whether the latest progress synced, stop rather than risk deleting it.
Clear local saved games only if needed
SEGA also lists the broader path Settings > System > Storage devices > Clear local saved games. Use it only after considering the wider scope and letting the console synchronize online. Read the console’s confirmation text closely; cloud synchronization and recovery behavior can vary, and an unsynced save may not be recoverable.

If the error remains
- For a game that retains many save files, check whether its own save-management menu lets you remove older files; follow that game publisher’s instructions.
- Reopen the game while online and allow synchronization to complete, then try saving again.
- If the message persists or you suspect a sync failure or corrupted save, contact Xbox Support or the game publisher for current advice. The cited support information does not establish a universal recovery procedure.
Do not start with a factory reset: the available guidance does not recommend it as an early fix for this saved-data error.

No storage product is established as a direct fix for 0x80830003. Xbox’s storage and expansion-card guidance concerns console storage, while the troubleshooting steps for this error focus on saved-data management. If your console separately lacks space to install games, use Xbox’s storage guidance for that separate problem; a drive is not a verified remedy for this saved-data message.
