If there is no Mods folder there, create one. Then extract your downloaded files, put the mod files in that folder, enable custom content in the game, and restart.
Find the Sims 4 user folder
On PC or Mac, open the Electronic Arts folder in the user files, then open The Sims 4. The Mods folder belongs inside this user folder, rather than among the game’s installation files. EA’s instructions describe these folder names but do not give one absolute path that applies to every PC and Mac setup; Documents may be redirected or cloud-synced.

EA’s current installation guidance is for PC and Mac. Mods are not available on PlayStation or Xbox. See EA’s instructions for installing Mods and Custom Content.
Create Mods if it is missing, then install the files
- In Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, create a folder named Mods if it is not already there.
- Extract the downloaded
.zipor.rararchive. Do not put the compressed archive itself in Mods; move the extracted mod file or files into the folder.
EA and Maxis state that they “don’t pre-screen, endorse, or support specific Mods or Custom Content.” Download cautiously from trusted sources or creators.

Enable Mods in the game
- Launch The Sims 4 and open Game Options > Other.
- Turn on Enable Custom Content and Mods.
- Relaunch the game for the change to take effect.
If the folder or content is still missing
Check that you are looking in the user-folder location The Sims 4 is actually using. If the folder you expected is absent, a redirected or cloud-synced user folder may mean the game’s files are elsewhere. EA’s Windows-specific missing-content guidance also lists cloud-storage issues, renamed files, or a changed user-folder location as possible causes—not a diagnosis that applies to every player or Mac setup. - Confirm the folder is named Mods and is inside the active Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 user folder.
- Check that you moved extracted files into Mods, rather than leaving them inside a compressed archive.
- After a game update, check the creator’s current compatibility information before enabling Mods again. EA warns that updates can disable Mods; saving with Mods disabled may remove modded content from that save. See EA’s guidance on Mods and game updates.
